Thumbs down 15.5 MPG...What The French, Toast!?!?

So i have only had the coupe for less than a month and am already feeling the beasts thirst for gas like its going out of style. I have an 05 auto, with 31k miles, and filled up last Thurs with 16 gallons of gas. I would say i drive 85% city 15% highway. My gas light just turned on my way home and now its sitting in my driveway with 248 miles on a 16 gallon purchase. Always filling up with premo gas. Simple math states this is about 15.5 miles per gallon. Now i have been babying this thing like a grandpa would, and have only pushed it to 4 rpm once, and thats it. I also have a very light foot in terms of the pedal and breaking out the gates (word to Big Brown) when the light turns green. Whats going on here?? This is getting worse mileage than my 02 3.5 4 door Altima would when i had it, and i actually pushed that thing. Anyone else have this problem? Howd you fix it? Thanks for any replys...

I always find it hard to tell what the real gas mileage is unless I fill up completely all the time.... like, if you had a quarter of a tank and put in 10 gals then calculated mileage off of when the light goes off you are not accounting for the extra 5 gals or so that were there prior to your 10 gal fill up. Maybe try filling the thing up this time, see what the mileage is next time and at that point fill it up again to find out how many exact gallons were used....

I usually ony get about 300 or maybe 350 out of a full tank 20gals.... but i do have fun in the car....

I have filled up completely both times I have had to fill up. I fill about about 5 or so miles after the gas light pops on. And I believe I even filled like 16.7 gallons this time and both times I barely even reached 250 miles before the light pops on.

I removed the bulb from my gas light.

1st engine clunk = 1st Warning
2nd engine clunk = Get to the gas station

by the 3rd clunk my car dies on the road.

Makes driving much more exciting.

Change the setting to KM - you should see higher results.

lol, well done.

anyways, i bought my 07 with 15k miles on it, i checked the air filter it was pretty dirty, i put a new one in and got a few mpg improvement (according to the nav's avg mpg) also check your tire inflation, try 93 octane... and are you driving city? because 15.5 mpg in stop and go traffic itsnt too terrible, you should be getting around 25 on the highway. if it really is that bad take it to the dealer, ask them to check it for you

I have a '06 G coupe AT, and i can tell you i drive extremely light foot, my RPM rarely reach 3000 when i took off from stop light, and i drive 75% Highway and 25% local, i get 310miles before i get the warning light on with full tank of gas....

I did an oil change to Mobile 1 5w30, replaced the air filter, adjusted tire pressure, and switched the A/C to the economy setting. According to my Nav system, I'm averaging a little over 20MPG now, up from 17.5MPG before. I'm curious to see if it goes up a little more when the weather cools down a bit. My driving is about a 50/50 highway/city mix.

I accelerate lightly most of the time, get to cruising speed, and do everything I can to maintain speed. I also try to plan ahead and coast to stops, sometimes in neutral.

On the other hand, I do get on the gas several times a day. Not usually redline, but definitely spirited.

If you're concerned about gas mileage and:

(1) You buy a G

(2) You get an Auto

You're a retard

You call him a retard because he expects more than 15.5 mpg out of an auto g35? Some people on this forum can't give constructive feedback but instead would rather be internet jerks.

Guilty. I guess I'm not a champion like you

Besides, everyone obviously knows he's in the 1/3 of people who are non-compliant with Obama's tire gauge red herring *cough cough* errr plan
