Sucks man.

I'm almost certain that the window broke as a result of the car having just been washed. If it was hot out and you sprayed cold water on the window, it was probably contracting at a rapid rate.. or in this case, had started expanding again after the previous cooling(from washing) and then being exposed to the sun again immediately after the rapid cooling took place. A rapid temperature change temporarily weakens the glass while it's expanding/compressing and makes it more vulnerable to breaking as a result of otherwise-minor impacts.
