VDC Ques

The VDC Slip light will only be activated when the REAR wheels slip correct? If the fronts were to slide nothing wold happen since the car is RWD?

Didn't want to start a new thread but if you turn vdc off does it still function partly? I thought I read that on some cars with stability control it will still function with it turned off, only it will cut in later to stop the slide.

tmt, good idea that you did not start a new thread, and yes even if VDC is turned off it can still activate.

Klubbheads - thanks for the clarification

How do the front wheels slip without the rear slipping?

Ok, i got my rear tires changed and then within the first 10 miles exiting on a ramp i slipped and it felt like the front end. I was not on the gas so i do not think it was the new rears. It has happened to me 3 more times and it is all on the off ramps and it has never happened before. I went to a parking lot and did some tight circles on the gas and didn't manage to slip.

This is not confidence inspiring and i want to make sure i exhaust all options before going back to the tire shop.

The VDC will attempt to correct understeer.

Drive any AWD G, and do tight circles with VDC on, and VDC off, and you'll VERY quickly see the difference.
