Say Hello to a new Coupe owner

Hi everyone, I just bought the car this saturday. Its Black, 6MT, Aero, Premium, and Nav
MSRP: ~$37,500
I got 1k off. Hope I got a good deal, because I didn't really want black car, but it looks very very good.

So I got the Car on Saturday, and called my Insurance agent (American Family) left a voice mail with Vin number and etc.
Call him on monday, no answer, call on Tuesday, some guy who works for him picks up the phone, and tells me that he couldn't insure my car because he didn't know what I did with my old one.

I was like, why the f..k do you care what I did with my old one, just insure the new one. So he said that the car is insured since tuesday. Yesterday I call the Corporate Headquarters and they tell me that they don't have any records of my car in their databases.

So today I am getting a new agent. The car is standing in the garage, and I am not driving it because of it. And this week I am going on vacation for a week, so I'll own the car for 2 weeks and drive it only once.

But I love the car.

Re: Say Hello to a new Coupe owner

You’re insurance company sounds screwy.

When I bought my G35 Coupe, the sales rep told me that my car insurance (for my old car) would automatically cover the G for thirty days until I had a chance to switch it over. I have State Farm, but I don’t think this policy was specific to my insurance company. Maybe it’s state law. You should check up on it.

My company (Traders insurance) here in Canada automatically covers me when I switch over from one car to the next in case there's a delay, or the trade is done quickly. You might want to check with head office for their policy on this.

I'm pretty sure previous companies I've dealt with would do the same. Good luck......

$2,160 total, huh? Not bad, but I would have argued him down to $2000 even.

Lucky guy. Being young and owning a G isn't cheap. I pay about $830 for 6 monthes with full coverage and all the options. I also had alot of problems with Mercury my Ins. They kept giving me the incorrect prices and even after it was setup they still put it in as 4 door and I had to call and explain to them that the car was a new body style and had only teo doors. It was a huge mess and was one of the bad experiences I've had with this car.

Re: Say Hello to a new Coupe owner

Actually I just got Mercury Insurace for the coupe and it was a PLUS they hadn't classified the coupe and Sedan differently as of yet. My quote was even higher than what I actually paid when I got there (about 120/month) not bad for a 23 in SOcal.

You are in OC though right? Not LA county?

Re: Say Hello to a new Coupe owner

120/month is good for being 23. I'm 25 w/ a clean record and got 137/month quote with mercury insurance....that's in LA county though.

Ugh! I wish man! That's so cheap, is it full coverage with everything? Anyone know of a cheaper Insurance Co. than Mercury?

Re: Say Hello to a new Coupe owner

Yeah, I'm in OC, 14 dollars difference per month between the counties? That's dumb. Anyway, try wawanesa , they are cheap. They have a website.

Re: Say Hello to a new Coupe owner

21st Century is priced well too, as long as your record is clean.

Plus, when it comes time to make a claim, I wouldn't want to be stuck with some of the others. I know first hand that 21st handles claims well, and I've heard Wawanesa is in the same league.
