When you test drive, what you see is what you get. I thought 6 MT needed more R & D. I miss MT sometimes, but when i read about some owners problems with MT i feel 5 AT was not a bad choice.

I have no problems with a smooth take off whatsoever.

Mt
Coming from a '01 Maxima 5MT with smooth and refined shifts I also noticed the notchiness and vibrations in my '04 G35 6MT. I was disturbed, but since all you guys feel the same thing, I now know it is normal with this car. And just like it has been said above, we feel more vibration due to it being RWD and direct link, but most of all because it is such a short shifter. And when I do feel too much vibration I take my hand off the **** and as long as the car don't shake, I'm happy. The performance, the looks and the exhaust sound by far exceeds all the bad sounds and feels. I love it.

i have been feeling the same remorse. Taking off in 1st gear is horrendous. And for those of you that think you are supposed to feel/hear vibrations, chatter, you are all nutz. This is the first car (next to the few racecars I have had the pleasure of driving) and an 86 Chevy 454 flatbed, that I have driven to provide so much vibration feedback through the shifter.
for a $40k luxury sports-car, I am just as disappointed as the original poster.
I along with other posters on this forum have been slammed for asking how to get more performance out of this gorgeous car. Only to be met with "THIS IS NOT A SPORTS CAR" or "YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE".
So now, that we have established that it is a luxury car, why are we having to deal with an unrefined sports car transmission???
