G35c vs. s2000 and some others

Hello, i actually posted my stories on 6mt.com, but got accused of BSing. It was a crazy night because i raced a mustang v6 and porsche boxter from a light and beat them. Then ran my friends 350z from a stop, his tires spun ALOT, and i had him till about 50 something mph, then he passed me and i was a few feet from his back bumper till about 80 - 90 mph? I was happy with that cuz i woulda thought hed have me by far more. I even found out he had an intake. He was manual and im auto. He probably coulda done way better too. Anyway, the real reason I'm posting is because after those races that night a s2000 was coming up hard on me on a turn. It passed me, and i waited a few seconds before i made the move. I did and i actually passed him and it didn't take that much. We shut off alittle over a hundred mph im guessing, and gave thumbs up. I always thought s2000s were faster? Could it be because we were in higher speeds?

To finish the night on my way home, a Celica with racing stickers thought he was hard at a light. I showed him =D

Thank you , I really need to know the deal with the s2000s.

Re: G35c vs. s2000 and some others

Depends on the driver. Ive had some close races with S2K's and lost only once cuz I rammed the gate between 3rd and 5th while going to 5th. We are faster, but not by much. A bad G35 driver can be taken by a good S2000 driver and vice versa. However, the G does have an edge so you don't need to know your car as well as an S2000 owner would have to in order to beat us. Then again, with an AT its about the same concept as "point and click" so Id doubt many S2000s (all being manuals) will give u a problem.

I had a guy race me in a V6 Mustang the other day. He had it all riced up, and I still tore him a new one. I just don't get people sometimes. The other cars I can see challenging you.

V6 Mustangs are uber-slow... only ones messing with are the v8s and up.

that's very un true my friend. an s2000 according to ANY car mag. you read has quicker stats. quarter mile, 0-60, braking, the car's just quicker all around so i don't think your facts are straight.
only thing that is true, is that an s2000 is a difficult car to drive, but even an unexperienced driver would beat an ATg35.
i'm sure many here will admit to losing to an s2000.

please remember that i did say the S is a difficult car to drive- so i'm sure there are drivers here who have beaten s2000's, but that doesn't mean they are slower, but the driver just sucked!

I own a G35 AT and a 2004 S2K. it might be faster on paper, but I will tell you that it's a bitch too drive and launch properly. Don't get me wrong, the S2K is a fantastic car, but I find myself driving my G more and more, even on "fun" days.

You are so right. I also own both a 2003 G-coupe and a weekend sportster a 2002 S2K. Being able to have a good launch with the S2000 is quite hard so unless the S2000 is a extremely good stick driver, a g-coupe will take a S2000. Peace.

Re: G35c vs. s2000 and some others

TommyAmrani: that's not true at all. The S2K definitely has the potential to beat an AT G or any G for that matter but an inexperienced driver in an S2k won't necessarily beat a G AT simply because he is driving an S2k.. I've been up against 2 from a standstill and have won both times.

Many have misconceptions aregards the numbers they see attained in mags. They post the best numbers that they are able to obtain, many times with multiple attempts at launching. Just because you see a number in a mag doesn't mean that even the best drivers would be able to get that number consistently. Bottom line is that contests between cars that are so closely matched will be a drivers race with an advantage going to the person with the car that is potentially quicker 6MT, 5AT or otherwise.

Mags also often use a 12" rollout when shooting their 0-60.

Re: G35c vs. s2000 and some others

even if it was from a roll at like 60 mph? i used tiptronic so that helped against the s2k. Do s2ks come in auto?

Re: G35c vs. s2000 and some others

no, s2k's are only stick for now.
i personally own an s2000 and i think the next car for me would have to be an ivory white g35 6spd.
i know i raced several G's from a roll and from a dead stop... like many have said and like stated previously- many times it boiled down to driver, other times it was all about the launch. the s2000 is a hard car to drive and a novice driver will have their a$$ handed to them by a G driver- like i once had when i first got my S.
put both cars on twisty roads and it's a whole new ball game

Old boxter and stock Mustang V6 are both slower than a Coupe G35 6MT

Try a Mustang SVT or Cobra and you will be smoked if the driver knows its car.
