'03 G35c v.s. '82 Honda Civic

I was on my way to the movies the other day and I came to a stop at the red light. Stopped next to me was a 1982 Honda civic. My G is an automatic and I think his civic was manual. He started revving his engine and man does that car have power. I stuck my car in MM mode, turned of the vdc, rolled up my windows, told my girlfriend to get out of the car to reduce weight, and then I saw that my tank was almost on empty..... I backed down. Who do you think would have won? What if I had a full tank of gas, 10,000 miles, MM mode? You think I can take the '82 civic who has a full tank of gas, 380,000 miles, and manual transmission? I probably have a better chance if I had a manual huh?

depends. the civic has massive amounts of torque, rivaling that of a geo metro's. i think with its engine broken in as it is, it may very well be a driver's race. now, you have to be careful, because before the invention of vtec, the power was crazy high throughout the whole powerband of the hondas--the vtec is actually the only way the cars would be street legal. now, the only advantage i see for your car was the lack of weight from the gas; those old civics were like tanks! they had the weight of a hummer h2 and the cornering skills of a gocart. i'd say you'd be lucky if you could still see its tails by the end of the block.

Chances are when the light turned green you would have gotten a huge jump on him. He obviously mistakenly left his slicks at home. With all the ponies pumping out of that massive power plant under the hood there is no way he could have gotten a clean start. But, once those tires catch (if the rear end holds) he's going to be coming at you with crotch rocket vengence....

I don't know I still have a 1987 Honda CRX where I modiffed it from 72 hp to a whomping 101hp and my 0 to 60 times where still in the 8 second range. I guess if the G-Driver blows up his transmission the Civic would have won the race. He was probably like me in my old wild teenage days where I would take on anyone just to see if they would play along. My favorite two races where against a Porsche 911 turbo and regular Porsche. Needless to say I was spanked pretty hard by them in my Honda but I'll never forget the face of the guy in the 911 Turbo has he passed me doing about 140. I think I had the CRX at 115 and he just blew by me with this sh^&&^ eating grin.

I haven't been really tested yet in the G35 but I'm not much into triple digit speeds or racing on the public roads especially if the other driver is a teenager.

Well let me tell you from personal experience, that one is bad but I had an '82 Civic DX (the one with hubcaps) in blue even (you know that fast color), and if they made those today, I wouldn't even have considered the G.

Wow, that would be a close one. Do you have neon or stickers on your car or anything else that would make your G faster? Anything that gives you an edge over that Honda will help. Also, dont forget to turn your AC off, in a race that close it could make all the difference.

PS- I had quiznos for dinner

It would be a close one mate. The civic has the obvious advantage with the orange fog lights, boy..do they look sweet on that ride. I only wish they still made this car, because I would have gotten one in a heartbeat..

That's a sweet looking Civic, especially with that Starsky & Hutch stripe. Your manumatic G had no chance whatsoever.

Was it "Race Yellow" like the one in the picture??
Man... Race Yellow. It's like... a psysiological thing. It completely messes with your mind. You were good to shut it down, man. Really.

did anyone else notice the sticker on the civic's window? isnt that the 500 hp sticker? you were lucky you were out of gas man, he would have sucked your whole car into the intake and sh!tted it out.

Re: '03 G35c v.s. '82 Honda Civic

By the way, I got to the theater late and missed the first ten minutes of Mean Girls. Does anyone know what happened in the beginning? I wanted to see scooby doo 2 but it was sold out. I knew I should've gone on ebay to find a '82 civic or a '87 sentra. Then I would have made it to the movie on time.
