It is a general rule of thumb not to buy a used car that is the first model year of production. There will inevitably be kinks/failures/problems which arise and which (hopefully) will be ironed out down the line. This is part of the reason some car companies make mid-model year ('03.5, for example) changes to address these problems.

A lot of things changed in '04 (TPMS, different wiring harnesses, etc.), and even more changed in '04.5 (wideband O2 sensor, for example)

Those of you who have 2003s without problems likely have '03.5 coupes. Either way consider yourself lucky not to have had any problems.

There are annoying problems with every year G that still haven't been ironed out (CD changer being one). However, there should be lower odds of having problems (sunroof motor, window regulator, creaks, rattles, CD player failure, electrical problems) the newer the model.

Same here I have an 03 with zero problems after 100,000 miles bought brand new. Only routine maintenece...I don't get why people say the 03 has problems either. Also I have run my CD changer everyday since the day I got it...no problems there either

'03 had problems as it was the first year

'05 doesn't have projectors, bluetooth sport bumper and sides with sport package, etc.

Your first decision should be AT or MT.

If you're getting AT - then without a doubt the newer the better.

With MT, I'd say '04 or '06-'07. '04 Will have Brembos and 10 more lb-ft of torque. However, it will have 18 less HP, older headlights, older interior, older taillights, 19's weren't offered with the sport package, and it will have less warranty remaining.

Warranties are 4 yrs/60,000 miles bumper-to-bumper, and 6 years/70,000 miles powertrain.

what do u mean : bluetooth sport bumper and sides with sport package, etc.
and what years have 19s and what is the sport package?

why did u skip MT for '05?

What is your budget? I just bought an 07 5AT, 15k on it with Nav, Sport, Aero, Prem for $24,700...took 2 weeks of looking on Ebay, Autotrader, Cars.com, lots of reading and phone calls and in the end I went with this car as it had every option I wanted and has 3 years of warranty and 45k of warranty left on it.

I's say the exact opposite, go with DG, I have an IP and it takes lots and lots of work to maintain it clean. I hand wash it once a week, and spray it down with water mid-week. ANd I hardly ever drive it. Should have stuck with my first choice DG, dirt would never show as much. Oh well, live and learn.
