this was my first time going out to the dragstrip with my 6mt black coupe..the first run was a 15.5 because i miss shifted in third gear.. 2nd run was a 15.1 and my last run was a 14.9 i was hoping to get into the mid 14's but i came late and the drag strip closed.. my car is bonestock but im just really curious to what quarter mile times did people hit in their stock 6 speed coupe and how they launched it to get their best time. ive been trying out different techniques with my launches but i want to know whats the best way to launch the car. ill post videos and time slips later when i get the chance.

I am going to have to call BS on your quarter mile statement. 13.79 with 19's and an auto is pretty hard to imagine. Please tell me you were running slicks.

Frankly, if I saw a 13.79 second timeslip for a stock G35 automatic running on 19s I would doubt the accuracy of the drag strip clock.

I believe sixfive turned a 14.2 in his slightly modded sedan....
It seems 14.5-14.9 is about normal in stock condition.........

13's would be possible for that other guy with 19's only if the car he was racing crashed into him from behind and hurled him passed the traps at 13.79 lol

Hey, perhaps I was overly harsh--but last time I went to the track I raced a Track 350Z that had just about every N/A mod you can name including cams. We raced three times and that guy got a great launch every time (2.0 60'). He did no better than 13.8 on that particular night. It was hot and humid, though. He claims to have run a 13.2 on one occasion under ideal conditions, though, so who knows.

You'd be suprised (well maybe you wouldn't) what Density Altitude can do to your HP. In normal altitude and weather variations in this country, you could be running 90-110% of your rated HP.

Maybe he ran it at -10 F, 30 knot tailwind, 32 inches of mercury, and down hill .

My best time in a slightly modified 6MT was a 14.5 at 98.3 mph. I took off from idle and got a 2.368 sixty foot time. I've done a total of 4 runs, a 14.5, a 14.9, a 15.0 and a 16.0 (GREAT LAUNCH, but totally missed 2nd)... how does someone miss 2nd gear??? The 3 other runs I varied launch rpm's from ~1000 to 2500 and did the best with the street start. Also, FL is a hot and humid place, which hurts your times a bit.

Another thing... Ximer getting a 13.8 is like the 425 pound ugly chick getting laid by the prom king. Only happens in ones dreams. Remember, always consider the source...
