G vs (fill in the car) posts
Is it just me or are half of the posts these days someone asking if they can beat their roommate's co-worker's girlfriend's boss's brother's neighbor's dog walker's ex boyfriend's nephew in his car? To save everyone the trouble, here are 2 options.
1. Do a search. Chances are, some one has already asked if a G will beat a wrx, M3, S4, S2000, etc. Trust me, you'll find it.
2. Turn off your computer and go race the guy. Why is everyone asking about it, just go do it. Go to a track, race down the highway, who cares, just do it.
Not trying to pick on you guys, but come on, lets get some better topics. Like Quiznos.

Which Yugo is it? Some of them were almost as fast as those 82 Civic DXs. And remember, for every 100 lbs of weight, you lose a tenth off your quarter mile time, so dont eat any quiznos until after the race.

If we were to change the layout of this forum we would be able to have a folder just for G vs (fill in the car) posts but right now everything is in together.

Re: G vs (fill in the car) posts
My experience with public boards going paid is that the Givers leave (why would they want to share their knowledge for a price?) the Takers leave (they are no longer receiving valuable advice from the givers) and the socialites pay to stick around and chat about who would win, Ducati Guy or Batman? Thus, you still have your problem of repetitive infantile arguements about things not germane to the topic.
The solution to repetitive posts or posts you don't want to read is to better organize the threads. As a 15 year veteran of boards, I can tell you this one is pretty good relative to many I've seen. The only boards I've seen with a more mature or organized element have been the aviation boards, and yes, the Harley boards.
The solution to providing more service is to charge. To charge, members will want at least a quarterly publication on shiny paper, a hat, a tshirt, and some kind of sticker. They will also want fewer pop ups and rights to exclusive events. So simply charging is not a viable option unless someone is running a pretty tight business in the background. Successful boards that do this typically have strong backing from a manufacturer or some kind of magazine or media backing (publishing company for instance).
The alternative is to read the posts that interest you, and skip those that don't interest you without letting the repetitive posts annoy you. Another alternative is to ignore the flames or just tell on them.
Charging can help provide more services to a forum, but it will not clean up the riff raff. If anything, it will give the dues payers more of a sense of entitlement that they can bitch when they want because they're "tax paying citizens and have the right to bitch".

whoa, hadnt seen those. found the link http://64.78.149.221/event1V1.asp
Do you guys think this commercial would beat a Subway commercial? What if the subway commercial was on a big screen and the quiznos commercial was on a regular TV. What if the regular TV wasnt regular after all, but an HDTV, just not that big?

Re: G vs (fill in the car) posts
God, I wish. My kinetix cats came yesterday, and Doug called to tell me they shipped my plenum, it'll be here friday. Im putting them on this weekend. The vortech has been in Charlotte for about 3 weeks now, just waiting. As soon as I can get a couple days, it will be finished. Probably memorial day weekend. I just got tired of my sig taking up more room than my post, so I shortened it. When I get it all on, we'll have to meet up at the track again.
