Question My Car Got Hit & Run From the Rear!!

What do I do from here? It either happened at my gym or at my work parking lot. I'm honestly trying to avoid paying $1,000 deductible I already let my work and my gym both know and they both responded with call your insurance company get a police report, etc.

Is there anything that I can do to try and get them to cover it?

I've been through it and there's really no way out of paying the deductible unless they find the party that was at-fault.

Good luck man.

Yeah I'm trying to call my gym because I can't justify paying a $1,000 deductible for a $200 paint job for the bumper, doesn't make sense to me.

so, what you are asking is, since your car was hit at your gym, or at work, you want them to pay your deductible? That is the most asinine thing ive ever heard!

This would fall under your uninsured motorist policy anyways, i know mine(deductible) is only $250

No I'm saynig that since it was hit at my gym or work they should COVER the damage. My buddy's Acura got hit at his place of employment and they covered it 100%, it was put under some kind of property insurance.

If the damages are only $200 you dont have to pay a $1000 deductible. Why even get your insurance company involved, just pay out of pocket.
a deductible means that you are responsible for $1000 of the repairs before insurance pays the rest.

see if there were any surveillance cameras in the area. Maybe you can catch the car that did it to you.

if the damages are only $200, i can almost guarantee that is something you can take care of with sandpaper, and a buffer yourself

First of all if your buddy had his car repaired by his employer...Than kudos to them because they did not have to do that.

I been in your situation before with my G at a Wal Mart, except I had $3,000 in damage. The gym nor you work are responsible, sadly you are the one responsible for someone else neglect.

If you think it is only gonna cost $200 don't even get the insurance involved, But if you must def. get a police report when you go to your insurance company.

Do you know anybody in the auto body field? Some times they can avoid the deductible...I.E. When my car was hit the head light had a paint smudge from the car the hit me. The Insurance adjuster wrote me up for a new head light $650 from the dealer. Well my buddy who fixed my car buffed out the paint smudge and save my light, So that paid my deductible and I pocketed $350 dollars...

Honestly I used Scratch-X like CRAZY over the area and it got about 70% of the damages out already. I would probably be able to finish the rest of it with some wet sanding but I don't want to mess anything up.

Can someone recommend me what EXACTLY to do in terms of sandpaper, etc.? What grit that won't damage the paint, etc.

Before you make a claim go get an estimate or quote to see how much its gonna cost you.

We did that with my moms trailblazer. The shop said $1100 for a complete job with new parts and the works.

The guy from the insurance company quoted $2200 and wrote a check for $1700 since we had $500 deductable.

if you removed 70% of it with just scratch x you should be able to use 2000 grit sandpaper. just get a hose out, and mist the water on the bumper, you can just wrap the sandpaper around your fingers, and lightly sand the area. you can feel when the scratches go away, but if you arent sure, sand for a little while, then compound the area(you may want to go get some 3m brand) with 2000 grit sand paper, you can just get standard rubbing compound. you should be able to compound the area with just some elbow grease if you dont have access to a buffer. in fact that is what i recommend if you have never used a buffer. if you dont know what you are doing, you can burn the paint with a buffer. you may have to compound it a few times to get the sand scratches out. follow up with your favorite wax.

After spending 3 hours with 1500 grit sandpaper wetsanding, Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound, Turtle Wax Swirl & Scratch Remover Wax, and some Scratch-X and regular Zaino wax, I got about 95% of the damage out!
