Car vandalised, insurance question
Car vandalised, insurance question
So last night i went to my high school basketball game, where I come out to my covered in sand and small rocks. My sunroof was cracked open, and they managed to push the sand into my sunroof, and covered my seats, dash, center console. There was also two large dents on the side of the car. After washing my car, there where many hairline scratches revealed. I managed to find a police officer at the game and filed a report for criminal damage.
The car is an 04 Black G35, and my question is it worth it to claim this with the insurance company. My deductible is $500, and just the two dents alone should add up to that, but I am worried they wont cover the paint since it is just hairline scratches. I don't know if they could be buffed out, or how they would go about it. Anyone with experience in this, let me know, thanks.

Yea, thats what I was thinking, but if i'm paying a $500 deductible for the dents, I figured why not just claim the scratches and get the car repainted..for essentially nothing at that point. Would it be worth it to repaint it? How much do you think it would devalue the car?
where are the dents and how big? got any pics? you can get so pdr done, i had two dents in the door removed for $75. then take it to a detail shop.

I can try to take some pic's today, and yea its a shame seeing people so disrespectful.
I have no familiarity with scratch X or any scratch or dent removers, so I will just take it to a body shop and get an estimate, and then make a decision from there.

Vandalized....why??
Having your car vandalized isn't like being in an accident, since you have
dents you NEED to notify your insurance company. That is why you pay
those premiums, for their coverage. A quick call to your agent will let you
know where you stand, not to mention how good your coverage REALLY is!
Sorry bout your car, I hate it when anyone screws with our cars....

vandalism is under comprehensive coverage (not collision) so your deductible might not be the same as if you were in an accident. double check your deductible, but claim it either way. and when you do, have EVERYTHING fixed back to the way it was. don't accept anything less...
