I drive with Dunlop SP winters on 18" rims (thats my snowsetup)
I also keep a 2 gallon container of gas for emergencies, jumper cable, tow cable, and 2 sandbags in my trunk I'm good to go.

 

Call tirerack. EXPERTS!! Have bought countless tires and rims for numerous vehicles. Several cheap rim/winter tire combos and I live in the snow belt of upstate NY, NOT albany nor syracuse WAY UPSTATE NY. Just east of Lake Ontario where we get 5-8 feet in a winter easily.

Don't screw around call them if not even to buy but just for sizes, hell you can find out what to use for free on their website. I would buy the elcheapo steal wheels that will fit with Blizzaks, Artic Ice or something comparable.

speaking from a lot of experience in snow growing up in WI and now living in the Twin Cities, i would highly recommend getting an aftermarket snowtire. Obviously teh more tire the better, so 18's would be better than 19's. Last winter was my first winter w/ the G and it seriously sucked. It was fine inbetween snows when the roads were half way decent, but if its snowing AT ALL, you have be very **** when it come to cornering, switching lanes, and especially accelerating or your a** will totally shoot out around you.

ATLEAT bet Blizzaks, or if anything to be safe...get a front wheel drive beater for like a few hundred bucks.
