Thanks everyone for sharing all of your opinions. I have only limited experience driving MT. I can manage but it doesn't feel second nature yet. Hopefully with more experience I'll see the light and my decision will become simple. Thanks again for helping me out!

Best advice so far. I have a 2K SE Max, auto. I also have a 2K6 6mt. G coupe. Two entirely different animals.

I live in the Wahington D.C area, never had a manual before. Just bought a 05 OB 6mt coupe. Other than being fustrated the first 3/4 days that I couldn't drive it like an experienced manual driver, I have no regrets. Its been 2 weeks now and I love it...and I have only been driving for 2 weeks! I will be drifting and doing donuts before the month is up....don't get an auto if you love cars and driving.

i disagree with the "if you have to think about it, get auto" argument.... i had to think about it before i got my G... i considered auto just because i was extremely inexperienced with a manual and at the time i was not a true manual enthusiast........ THIS HAS CHANGED

i will now never buy any sporty-type car with an auto transmission

i could not be any happier with the manual, i love it

and as for talking on the phone, get a 6MT with bluetooth

I agree. I was an experienced with a manual, I am a car enthusiast, and I still considered (for money and convenience) getting an auto. I needed a car quickly, and autos were much easier to come by. I know my scenario was different, but I still had to think about it. I ended up driving out of state to pick up my manual and couldn't be happier.

Very true, however, I would suggest starting with a car that is easier to drive than the G. I have driven stick for over 35 years and it was damn hard to make a good smooth first to second shift in this car.

Now our new Honda Si Sedan, that damn thing practically drives it self. I have never driven a car that was easier to shift smoothly. The last Honda I had was an 81' Accord 5MT and the shifter felt like I was stirring pudding. This thing just naturally falls into gear. I love it. Infiniti could learn a thing or two from them.

The G isn't the easiest manual transmission to drive, but it's also not the hardest. Definitely not something that's soo difficult that it can't be used as a first car to learn stick on.

The gears are low and the motor has decent torque, so it's not that easy to stall compared to some cars... of course, that can also lead to some wild burnouts if the driver is really really terrible at first.
