Thumbs up Car covers? Good idea or stupid?

I dont have a garage, I park my G in the driveway (no garage)...i live in north Jersey

ive never really looked into car covers,
-are they a good idea?
-do they make it worse when i snows? (harder to get the snow off)
-like, what are the pros and cons???

i bought my g 2 weeks ago and i would def spend 200 bucks on a car cover if its sooooo worth it...

Car covers will save your paint and interior!

Sorry to hear you have to leave your G out in the cold, especially NJ cold. Car covers are definitely worth using, especially if you
buy the RIGHT one. There's several fabrics to choose from, outside
you'll need one that's waterproof and yet lightweight so you can shake the
snow off when needed. My wife and I both use the California car cover
with fabric called NOAH, it's what you need for your weather....waterproof
and lightweight. 1-800-423-5525 or www.calcarcover.com

^^^+1 on the Noah car cover by Covercraft, they are custom fit for each model.

This is what the Noah looks like on my Sedan.

awesomeness...i went to their website...its only $229...sweet

-is it a pain to take on and off everyday...?
-where do i store it when i am driving my car? (trunk?)
-doesnt ice get stuck to it...can you kinda just start pulling it off and and the thin layer of frozen ice/snow kinda moves with the material making it easy, but heavy, to clear the snow and ice off it...
-will it fly off with heavy winds?...i live on the top of a mountain kinda

and on the website it say it is "highly water resistant"...is that kinda like the best they can do for a car cover?....or should i be spending another 50 bucks and getting something that is like "super duper water proof"

please advise....thanks and respect to the forums...this place kicks FN a@@

* Durable fabric design repels water, resists mold and mildew

Late Availability.

it doesnt really say if its a good one or not? it seems like a company that does nothing else other than car covers would make an exceptional product...like the NOAH fabric that i am reading about now....

Lucky me, I live in South Jersey, so it only snow about 3-4 times a year. I'm next to the beach too so there wasn't that much snow.

no garage? that's rough! do car covers not have a tendancy to rub/scratch the paint if the car's dirty?

It's the cheap ones that damage the car, since the inside isn't cashmere like the high quality ones. Also, another point it could damage at is around the elastic or however it is at the bottom of the car, it may be rough when you are pulling it over the car. But it's also going to be MUCH better than have hard ice slide off the top of your car, leaving scratches. It's an extremely good investment, just make sure whichever one you get, it's soft on the inside and has a soft elastic lining.

Also, take off any tags or stickers on the inside that could scratch your paint. Infiniti does have soft paint, and it's especially noticeable on black cars like yours.

I wouldn't use a car cover if you plan on taking it off day in and day out. If you are going to store your car for a prolonged time period... then it's recommended to use a car cover.

You could also use it intermittently if you know there is a big snow storm coming, and you want to keep the snow off of the car so that you don't risk scratching it while clearing the snow and stuff off. If you do put a car cover on it though.. make sure you go out and clear the snow off immediately after the storm finishes, or it will all freeze onto the car cover into a huge block of ice and make it hard to take off.

I had that happen to me before, but it didn't matter since I wasn't going to use the car. Mine gets stored for the whole winter under a car cover outside(no garage.. so i have no choice).

I highly recommend the California Car Cover. I have the Stormweave one for my car and it works awesome. The fitment could not possibly be any better... and I've had it for 4 years now.

I read awhile back that you don't want it totally waterproof. Not sure but I think that would trap any moisture against the car for whatever period of time you have the cover on.

I wanna invest in one aswell. I heard they are a good way to go if you don't have a garage.

Diller, the California car cover made with Noah will not scratch your car. If
there's anything on the cover when you want to take it off it will shake off. When you take the cover off you just put it in your trunk, doesn't
take up much room, still plenty of room for the golf clubs.... I've
used this particular cover for 20 years on three different cars. Although I
have a garage when I was at work they were always covered, saved the
paint and interior. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from the STEALERSHIP
I didn't have to!!
