Me vs. STi neck to neck

Re: Me vs. STi neck to neck
Had some fun with a white sti on the 605 tonight, it wasn't a fair race since I had 3 other people in my coupe (one 200 guy, 2 girls in the back). raced from 45-90, started the race with a nose lead and was about 3 cars ahead of me.

Re: Me vs. STi neck to neck
My previous car was a 2002 Subaru WRX, I bought one of the first ones off the boats in March of 2001. Eventually I had it to Stage 4+, with it dyno'ing at ~270awhp on a Mustang Dyno where stock WRXs pull 150awhp. Yeah, the car was fast.
My friend was so impressed with my WRX (over 70k miles on it, never once saw the dealership), that he bought an STi. I kinda looked down my nose at the STi, since I knew my WRX was faster.
But, when I went with him on his test drives of the STi, I was VERY impressed. The STi, even stock, is an amazing performer. With just some simple, cheap mods, they can be insane.
While I love my G35 6MT sport coupe, it's about 2 seconds slower in the quarter than my WRX was, and I wouldn't seriously challenge the STi in any REAL racing situations. I don't count "street racing", mainly because it's totally pointless. Proves nothing at all.
This is not a slam on the G35, like I said, I went from my WRX to the G35. But I wanted to try something totally different. The G35 is more luxury, the STi is more performance.
And unless you have been in an AWD car with lots of horsepower and felt the insane rush of acceleration from a stop, or how easy it is to power out of a corner at full throttle, you don't know how to appreciate it :P

Re: Me vs. STi neck to neck
Lets stop the hostilities and point important facts.
1. Street racing proves NOTHING since the favor could go in either direction due to a number of reasons - driver error, car condition, temperature/humidity, etc.
While STI is definately stronger car from stand still, G35 can hang and I said hang with it (not beat) from the roll, however if STI driver can make a slight error due to shifting, G35 can make a tad of advantage but not much (assuming he's good) again, from the roll.
2. TRACK is the only place to judge the TRUE RACING. However, the fair comparison should be between FI STI vs. FI G35. Other then that its pointless. I personally wouldn't go both track or street against STI or EVO unless I have s/c or turbo setup with good tuning.
