Cracking sound from the roof???
I have a strange noise coming from the roof region (maybe its the sunroof) everytime I start the car and drive slowly over small curbs. It is a short cracking sound which is good noticeable even with the radio on.It sound like some part is klicking out of its place.
Maybe someone has a solution for this one or know from where it comes.

sunroof - couple of post on this floating around.
i have it as well and it sounds just like my wifes old 240z did with a sunroof when she had it about 10 years ago. i wouldn't worry about it.

Remember a thread long time ago on this.
One possible solution was: lubricate rubber seal with silicon spray.
(this worked for me for subtle cracking sound and for open/close noise)
Second possible solution was: sunroof track mounting bolt(s) not torqued to spec or one or more were loose.
(was found to be true with someone else and solved their cracking/popping noise problem under warranty)

The rubber seals give off more of a low squeek. The noise I think the OP was talking about is a clear and distinct "Knock" when you exit a drive way or over a speed bump on an angle.
Mine does it as well.....Just started about a year ago. I think the dealer can retorque the sunroof tracks, but It will come back again....a simple flaw in the design. Too much flexing in the roof area.

If not I have to live with the design flaw

Cracking Noise
I think I know the noise you are talking about. I heard a poping noise (like something hitting the roof) every time I drove over an uneven grade (entering a driveway for example). I took it to my Dealer and they said its actually a part under the rear seat that makes that noise. They ordered me a part but I have yet to have time to take it to them for the install.
