Thanks, that is some good advice. One thing I need right away are snow tires. Should I get some that fit my current wheels (are 19" snow tires sensible?) or do I find a reasonable used set for now?

I'm thinking about this set I saw on craigslist for the latter option: "Dunlop Winter sport M3's on ASA 7 spoke rims. Size 225/45 18 front and 245/45 18 rear" - they are two years old and listed for $750

craigslist is a joke.. i wouldnt trust anything on there. do u even know if the rims will fit? alot of cars have different bolt patterns. look for anything that says will fit an infiniti or nissan. as for the winter tires... dont waste your money. i'm in jersey too, we dont get enough snow to make me waste money on snow tires. if i lived in the mountains then yea. but otherwise your stock tires will be fine. just dont drive in the snow unless u really need to.

I emailed the guy and he said they came of his 05 G35 coupe, and this is my everyday car so it will be hard not to drive in the snow. I suppose I could have the wifey drop me off at the train station if it got really bad... So your in Jersey, do you get any grief from the cops about a 30% tint? What is the limit where you can pass inspection?

i drive mine everyday to work and ive been fine so far. in jersey your not allowed to have any tint on the front wondows. the back doesnt matter. i only got pulled over once for it. i think it was a $46 dollar ticket but if u show up to court and prove the tint is off your front windows they drop the ticket. id rather pay the ticket than pay to get the windows re-tinted

snow tires for nj is overkill. these cars are a little difficult to get out of a hole after a few inches of snowfall. but clear a path for the wheels and youre fine. a decent set of all season tires will perform just fine with our conditions. btw, our bolt pattern is 5X114.3 its the same as 5 lug nissan, ford, infiniti. i say pickup a set of used oem 19s. cant be beat forged and the price of used wheels is perfect for the picking right now.

as for tint, ive had 20% on all my cars and havent had any issues. when i see a cop, ill open my sunroof to let light in or if he is sitting still, ill usually roll the windows down. as for inspection, i havent kept a car long enough to have to go through yet. but there are plenty of "nice inspection stations" out there that will take care of you
