Plenum spacer and CCV Valve?
Plenum spacer and CCV Valve?
I am about to install my motordyne Iso thermal plenum spacer. I noticed it comes with a ccv valve and i read up on it. it says to close it during 55+ temps and open when below 55.. i live in the bay area and hlf the yr, throughout the day it ranges from 45-65 sometimes as low as 38.. just wondering regarding the CCV valve, am i going to need to open it in the morning and close it in the middle of the day?
I think I'm right about this, but if someone else knows better, please correct me. The whole point of the valve is to cut the flow of coolant to the plenum and throttle body. When it's cold outside (hence the 55 or below) the air coming into the throttle body can condense and freeze to the butterfly valve in the throttle body, causing a whole world of s**t. Because of this, coolant flows to the plenum and the throttle body not to cool it, but to warm it. Warm throttle body and plenum means warm air into the plenum. When it's warm (above 55), this condensing and freezing issue isn't going to happen, so if you cut the coolant flow, you'll be getting colder air into the plenum. So it's not going to hurt to leave it open, but it can hurt to leave it closed, so best bet, leave it open when theres a chance of it being cold.

I also have the MotorDyne spacer with the valve and leave it closed year
round. It's been below freezing in the AM for the past month, our cars
thrive on cold air....
My G is locked up in a warm garage
at night and never left outside, that might make a difference.
