Dealership Experiences prior to delivery

Hello, I just put an order for a coupe 20 days ago at a San Diego Infiniti dealership, and they said it would take around 2 1/2 months for the coupe to get to me. I put down some money, and left the dealership happy with the cost we negotiated.

Ever since then, I haven't heard a peep from Infiniti. I have friends who had cars on order from BMW and Lexus and they often rave how BMW dealerships always keep in touch to make sure you are ok. I know its been only 20 some odd days for me and I ain't trippin, but I would like to know what your guys experience were during the 60-90 days you guys waited.......

Re: Dealership Experiences prior to delivery

Well when my coupe came in, the dealer thought it would be funny to tell me that the delivery truck was in an accident and all of the cars were ruined. They said it would be 2 more months until they got more.

Real funny huh?

Plus when I put my deposit down, they told me that it was refundable, which of course is a lie.

Needless to say, I didn't have the greatest experience. There were many many problems after the sale as well. I paid cash for the thing, you'd think they'd treat me like a king.

They may call you when the order goes in, and maybe after production of the car, otherwise, I wouldn't hold your breath for any calls.......The most important call is the day its in their lot and ready for pick-up!
Sit tight, the time will go pretty quick......

...don't think so, they don't make any money off the financing when you do that. They pretty much hate buyers that do not finance with them. When i bought mine, the dealership finance guy tried to tell me they would not take my check so I would have to finance with them...didnt' work.

As for calls from them about your order...doubt it. I would keep checking the dealership inventory online. You might find out they have your car before your sales person does.

oh they made their money off of me. I paid what they wanted, when they wanted and didn't give any lip back to them. I believe that deserves royal treatment.

My dealer called once to say "hi" - I told him I didnt want him to call unless he has the car. I didnt want to get excited everytime I saw the name on the caller ID just to get let down that he was just calling for no reason.

There is no reason to call unless they have the car. The BMW dealers call so you wont change your mind and buy a G!

Re: Dealership Experiences prior to delivery

I had the reverse experience. I kept calling them and stopping in and they kept telling me "everything was fine, should be here first week of June". Only when week 12 comes I find out they never ordered my car. Now is am SOL cuz i can't get a CB coupe.

Re: Dealership Experiences prior to delivery

I agree with Blitz, I didnt want them callin me all the time. If they give you a date then wait until then; then allow a week or so after that for the car. (Always late) Then they should be calling you VERY frequently to keep you updated. There is no need to get all excited before it actually gets here. Go play some golf and get your mind off the car for a while.
Its tough to wait, but you will be glad you did when it gets here.

I used Bill Galgano at Competition Infiniti - Smithtown - NY - they are teriffic. I have never heard a complaint about them. My car arrived earlier than promised.

Re: Dealership Experiences prior to delivery

i didn't negortiate price when i put deposit down for my car.
they called me once 2-3 weeks prior to my car coming in just to let me know that it should be in soon but the 1-2 months before that, they didn't say a word. then he calls a week early saying my car came in. i get happy, then he calls back and says the truck driver confused my vin number. so i waited another week. i managed to negotiate the price a bit before i finalized everything. kind of an a$$hole thing to do, but did. sales manager got mad cause of that and gave a higher than avg apr. punk. dealer i dealt with was pretty nice though.

Cynical.
You ordered a car without knowing the price? Can you translate the last sentence?

Re: Dealership Experiences prior to delivery

i called periodically to confirm price (i ordered before 04 pricing was out), they called to give me order number, vin, then when it was coming in, if i wanted any dealer extras.
