Someone Please Tell Me What I Broke!!! *Pics*
I was driving home on the 5-North last weekend and I hit something on the freeway I couldn't avoid. The instant I hit it, I heard the most horrific sounds as the object rolled under my car. From what I can tell, the right side of the rear bumper has moved up under my tail lights and the alignment is off on the edges. Under the car, on the right side of the exhaust, there was a plastic piece that was literally destroyed and what was left of it was dangling. I took that piece off and put the bolt back on. Another piece right behind it, which is made out of metal, is bent toward my bumper and that is what is digging into it. I tried to unroll it, but it didn't want to move. My mechanic ordered the two parts, but I'm not sure what else is wrong with my car. Since the bumper alignment is off, does that mean some of the support brackets are bent and I will have to get new ones? The front of the bumper isnt as bad. There are some impact marks near the bottom of the bumper, which arent tha visible, but the paint underneath the bumper cracked. The bumper itself is in one piece. Can someone tell me what broke and how much it will cost to fix?
Thanks.

off topic but by any chance you live in a Gentry home, the reflections sure looks familiar.

I had the same thing happen to me... pissed me off. At first I didn't know what happened, I thought someone was trying to jack my wheels, by lifting the rear end and broke the piece because of the weight. Then I realized if someone was lifting it, the piece would go up, not down. I first noticed it as I was walking up to the car, you could clearly see the broken piece. I believe the piece just re-enforces the bumper. I bent the piece back in and kinda smoothed it out... Looks fine now.
