If i was buying the car brand new i'd get a 6mt, 5at for used. I drive a 5 AT right now and I"m planning on getting a 6mt G37 in the near future.

Talk about false information

I hear this a lot from people who haven't owned a manual transmission car. IMO, manual isn't about being "faster", its about enjoying what you drive.

To the original poster: get what you want. Set your priorities, and then it shouldn't be too hard to decide. 6MT is a lot more fun, 5AT is more practical.

lol? common sense? well i have 6mt, i havent had any problems with it *knock of wood*, for me its like it treat it well, it treats me well , but iv tested it out n put it under some good amount of stress at times and its still good now, i looked around on more tips on driving stick (my first manual wus the g). So id say if u have had manual before u shouldnt have any problems cus it seems the general consensus is that the g is harder to drive stick on, so if theres probs its cus of newby drivers driving stick

Drove both and liked the 5at overall.

Keep in mind that the whole feel of the car does change though... The center console is also different... I think the AT looks way better from that perspective.

6MT FTMFW Goddamnit!!!

Don't even put an ounce of thought into it if you already know how to drive stick. Buy an auto, and you'll be sorry in a month or 2.

6mt?

Better get a warranty on that tranny....I have had two fellow G owners with 6mts get new transmissions under warranty due to grinding gears(5th and 6th gear) I talked to an Infiniti Tech....common, in fact one warranty company would not put a new one in so they bought a used one with 30K on it. Tech put it in and guess what, grinds 5th and 6th gear even with low miles!

Not to say I would not get a warranty on an auto, but I have no issues with my auto tranny with 105k on my coupe now. Still shifts good and has been a great car, better than my accord that costs more in reapairs than my G!

Anyways just be careful when you get a manual.

I'd go with auto if you drive it around the city alot. Stop lights....traffic...auto would be easier and less work imo. I would still stick with a manual though...i like to drive manual but sometimes auto would be easier too. haha

Choose what you want.

It all comes down to if you're buying the car to DRIVE it, or if your buying a car just to go fast from A to B. I'm pretty sure all statistic and facts are fairly similar between the two, comes down to whether you want to be driving the car or have the car drive for you.
