I downshift to brake so i dont wear out my brakes so much. I never downshift from 3 to 2 or 2 to 1 though because I hate the jerk. I let the car automatically downshift for me from 3rd to 1st. I hope engine braking isnt bad for u. I do it all the time

Did you guys know that when you downshift 2nd--->1st, if you press gas little bit when you downshift there's no jerkiness... i do this all the time(not to engine brake, but to accelerate in 1st gear) and i don't have any jerk at all(at any gears)...samething with 5th to 3rd, when you quickly click/press down 2times, and as soon as you feel the gear is changing press gas little bit and you have silky smooth downshifting...
