G Sighting Targa Newfoundland
G Sighting Targa Newfoundland
Caught a brief comment and shot of a Coupe at Targa Newfoundland on Speed Channel. It had "Zero points" which I guess is a good thing. I didn't catch what class it was in but zero points is the best you can get. They showed a brief glimpse of her motoring around a corner driven by some French dudes.

It was Touring Class, a red G, and it won. Try Speed Channel on Demand if you have it.

Re: G Sighting Targa Newfoundland
Awesome eh?
I know one of the guys who navigated one of the two Mini Coopers that ran, he's from my hometown (Toronto).
Anyway, the red G coupe driven by Drolet from Quebec got zero points (i.e. no time penalties) which is a perfect score and tough to achieve. He beat 3 Porsches, a BMW, a Benz, a 427 Cobra and an STi among others to take the Touring Class.
Not that it didn't already have it, but the G gained instant street cred with that win, especially amongst rally car and GT enthusiasts for whom the G wasn't really on the radar screen -- until now.
