Heck of a weekend!

First, I thought I'd made an appointment for the "Detail Manager", at a local "Car Wash", to 1) hand wash my G35 paying particular attention to some asphalt on the body 2) do whatever was necessary to make my bright silver polished aluminum alloy 18" wheels shine like new (they were delivered to me in less than pristine condition) 3) clean plastic interior 4) vacumn the interior and the trunk. (No leather treatment or wax as the car is still too new.)

Got there Saturday morning and no "Detail Manager". Just some kid who said "I know everything he knows".

If he does know, then the "Detail Manager" knows nothing about how to take care of polished aluminum alloy wheels.

This kid ruined my wheels. He used something that burned the surface of my wheels. (He also didn't clean the dash or vacumn the trunk and he did a terrible job of cleaning the windows.) (No, I don't clean my own car, that's what man invented money for. )

I speed down to our local Discount Tire Co. outlet to show the assistant manager (Rodney Turner) what they'd done. (One of the employees asked "How many bodies did you leave on the floor back there?") Over three hours later Rodney had gotten the wheels back into an acceptable condition. He said that "by summer, I'll have them looking better than new". (I've added two new pics of the G with her freshly polished wheels and with their new Michelin Pilot Sport AS tires. I'm attaching one pic of the damaged goods. You can tell by the "plastic" center cap what the wheels originally looked like before the "Hand Wash".)

Saturday afternoon, got my first Dyno of the stock G35c 5AT:
Max RWHP: 216.4
Max TQ: 253.0
Max MPH: 145 in 4th
Assuming a 20% loss throught the 5AT that figures out to 270.5hp.

Monday (ok, not the weekend), saw my first Coupe here in Raleigh, NC. After 9 weeks and 4 sedans I finally see a brilliant silver G35c (like mine), with aero pkg and 6MT (not like mine), turn down the street where I live. I knew there had to be another Coupe in the area. The dealer rarely has anything more than the demonstrator on the lot.

Ok, in case anyone in the Raleigh area wants to know, the "Car Wash" in question is the "AutoWash Express" on Six Forks Rd. I saw a lot of very expensive cars going through the automated car wash. (MBs, BMWs, Caddys, Lexus, etc... Only a C5 was also getting "Hand Washed". Hope his was better than mine.) I wish I'd followed my gut instinct and not gone there. But a number of folks kept mentioning this place and the "Detail Manager" (Duane Ringer) talked the talk.

Nice dyno but what a screw-up on the detailing.

Did you at least get a refund for the lousy service?
