My first (baseline) Dyno sheet

Max RwHp: 216.4
Max Ft-Pds: 253.0
Max MPH: 145 @ 6700RPM in 4th gear
Assuming 20% loss through 5AT gives a base HP of 270.5.

Note, this was with VDC off.

Also, I did NOT hit a rev limiter. Yes, I should have tried to see what 5th gear would top out at and whether or not there is a speed limiter but every time I let up at the redline in order to upshift to 5th, the dyno operator would hit the dyno brakes. Maybe next time, after a mod (whatever that might be), I'll ask to try a run in 5th gear.

Either your Dyno is reading wrong or mine was.

Re: My first (baseline) Dyno sheet

You should have more torque as most autos do because of the torque converter...

Re: My first (baseline) Dyno sheet

The 270.5 is Rear Wheel Horse Power, not flywheel HP.

Most folks compute FWHP from the RWHP based upon an assumption that the drive train consumes n% of the FWHP.

With an Automatic Transmission, that percentage is usually assumed to be 20%. With a Manual Transmission that changes to 15%.

There are other factors which affect the RWHP. Things such as heat and humidity of the intake air, current engine temp, etc...

Getting 270.5 versus 280 is, as they say, "Good enough for government work." It's like the G's 280 vs the Z's 287, pure marketing BS. You gotta have something besides two seats and a boxy grill to help distinguish the Z from the G.

Conditions at the time of my run(s):

Hot. Sun was late afternoon shining inside this tiny shed where the Dyno was set up. Hot is bad. (Operator had two squirrel fans pumping air at approx 60mph at the grill to help cool things down.)

Dry. First real day of spring. Dry is good.

Depending upon conditions, another run without making any mods could result in better or worse RWHP.

Re: My first (baseline) Dyno sheet

maybe i'm tired and not thinking straight, but you have 253RWtq??????? that's over 300 actual torque????

edit: i'm confused, is that just 253 actual (non-RW) torque? if so, that's far below what they say it does

Re: My first (baseline) Dyno sheet

Yea, that doesn't make sense.

The numbers are from a DynoJet Chassis system measured at the rear wheels via two drums.

So, yes, these are Rear Wheel numbers.

With a 20% drivetrain loss, the base engine HP figures to be 270.5 horses.

Using the same percentage that figures the base torque to be 316.25 ft-lbs.

Not exactly the published numbers of 280hp & 270lb-ft @6200rpm (though the peak was in that rpm range).

Doesn't make sense this way.

There's another DynoJet chassis system in the area, I may take a run on their system just to see if their are any major diffs.

That is quite a bit torquey. But, even though the numbers may be off, I like the torque curve.

Re: My first (baseline) Dyno sheet

They intersect at 5250 if they're on the same scale. Note that the torque and hp scales are about 50 points off each other.. left and right sides of the graph.
