Removal of Resonator

I went down to the muffler shop today and took out my resonator to see if it would make a difference. Let me be the first to tell you, DONT F&CKING DO IT!!! The car sounds like crap, and i didnt even notice any difference. I had my muffler guy put it right back on. Even he, himself, looked at the car, and said it sounded like [censored]. It sounded clean until about 4k RPM's after that, nothing but pure annoyance, not what this car is all about. Just my 2 cents

Really? Hmmmm... I was reading another thread in the mod's section I think and the guy said his sounded great and seemed to perform a little better. Myabe I'll experiment or maybe not. I can have the shop bolt it back on right there thought right?

Re: Removal of Resonator

i personally think it sounds better. you need to let the exhaust warm up before you judge. however, to each their own.

Re: Removal of Resonator

What does it sound like beyond 4grand? Does it just become extraordinarly raspy and loud? I cant imagine how the sound would change that much except for audio volume. I mean the exhaust is still going through the same tubing just minus a whole lot of sound dampening.

Re: Removal of Resonator

I had the resonator removed on my 350Z and it sounded like crap. When it's cold or high rpm it has a tinney, kazzoo sound to it. Didn't make that mistake with my coupe though.

Re: Removal of Resonator

I think if someone has took out the resonater, will you be so kind to record the sound in a wav or mp3 file, so that we can all listen to the sound?

Re: Removal of Resonator

I second that. I would really like to hear how it sounds. I personally would like a little more sound but not bad sound.

Re: Removal of Resonator

on FA there are a couple clips

http://www.columbusinteractive.com/G35/coupe01.avi

http://www.columbusinteractive.com/G35/coupe02.avi

but the intresting part is how the recorder doesnt go beyond 4grand. Maybe because it then started to sound bad.

Re: Removal of Resonator

it sounds horrible. its too raspy and tinny over 4 grand. IMHO, dont do it, do it the right way and buy a exhaust sytem.
