Keeping the G tucked away this winter. Last years Indiana salt really didn't do any good especially with my commute. So what should I get for a winter beater???

How about a Porsche?.........LOL

Seriously, whatever you buy, make sure its a safe and reliable auto to cart you around.. I'm thinking of doing the same thing, or just invest in the 17" rims and snows for the winter......

I bet you can pick up a civic or toyota for the money......but then it will cost you a little with insurance and registering......

used toyota corolla. those cars last forever. we had a '80 corolla two door hatchback and passed in down to our relatives years ago. even today, it still runs great--looks like crap now but still a great car!!!!

Given that Nissans depreciate rather quickly, get an Altima or Maxima.

i'm sure that your statement about the road salt not ruining your car as long as you keep it constantly clean may be true. however, i would think that road salt has got to do something to the car's finish, rims, or underbody. and to washing the car constantly may not be convenient--and that's to say the after every washing you can get all of the salt off the car and underbody.

Get a 91-92 Maxima, still a good looking/comfy car to this day if you can find one that cheap.

I'll sell you my '96 Ford Probe... I have to get rid of it and buy a winter kit -- better yet, I'd consider trading for yours!

I live in texas... whats this salt u are talking about? Is this salt found in snow or is it put out by ur states on the roads to melt ice or something? lol im glad that its still like 60* at the coldest in texas summers. *i live in houston and it gets down to like 40sh sometimes during winter* i would hate having to keep my speed undercontrol during ha couple of months.

Re: $1500-2000 for winter beater. What should I get?

There is sand and salt on the road from road workers trying to melt ice/snow with it. They are a great mix to melt things quicker. Its also a great mix to damage paint and stick to your car...

Re: $1500-2000 for winter beater. What should I get?

I would get a 90+ accord.. I got one for a beater before I bought my car and those have more power than a corolla or civic and lasts a long time, cheaper to repair too
