New 04 G35 owner and very nervous?

Hello,
I just purchased a 2004 G35 with only 6090 miles on it. The car has been sitting for around 2 years in the US Govt warehouse.I got it thru a govt auction for 16K. Here's the kicker, I was able to inspect the car and here it run but a was not able to drive the car. The car was in great shape, Black with black leather interior, pretty much loaded but without the nav. system.

I have not picked up the car yet, so my nerves are acting on me. Anything I should check right away? Thanks Robert

if it was sitting there for 2 years, i would atleast have all the fluids changed as well as the belts before driving.

WOW! Only 6,000 miles on it. As the others have said, I would definitely have the fluids/oil changed, the tires refilled, all filters (incabin and oil) changed, the belts checked for any cracking and proper lubrication, and then drive it to see if it needs any dealership service (IE: ECU reflash, bushing clicks, etc).

I would not even start the car until all the fluids were changed, all the fluids! A car that sits is not an ideal scenario for seals and gaskets. Good luck. (It would be advisable to flatbed your car to the mechanic for all the work).

Thanks all, your making me feel alot better saying I got a deal. I guess I won't be at ease until I'm able to get in and drive it. The first thing I'm doing is changing the fluid's.

I run across these auctions in the local paper here in new orleans. I have been to a few here for the US Marshall's sales. Normally they have 4-8 cars for auction at a time. Most of the time the cars are in pretty good shape. I have seen a 04 ls Tahoe with 44K miles go for 7900.oo, This time besides the g35 there was a 02 Pontiac firebird trans am WS6 package with 45K miles go for 11,500. I could have gotten this one also, but I'm driving a firebird now, and wanted to drive something different for a while.

Thanks again, I will post some pictures next week when I pick it up.

Water damage from Katrina??? Keep an eye out for that since you're in the N.O. area, and it's in a Govt. Auction. Hopefully it's not salvaged or a car that was damaged from the storm.

That's the first thing you ask/or look for down here. Lucky they were not in the flood.

You dont have anything to worry about. You got a great deal. Just change the oil if anything. Everything else will def be fine.

if you already bought it, not sure what the point of a 'test drive' is, you own it.

+1, tow it and have everything changed/checked before you drive it to prevent any damage from happening. Will cost more up front, but definitely worth it.
