Don't expect a turbo street legal RX8 anytime soon. From what I read turbo rotary engines produce cool exhaust, don't ask me why, but it means very ineffecient catalytic conversion which means it most likely isn't gonna meet smog requirements.

Actually, Mazda is supposedly building a turbocharged RX-8 very soon. It is not exhaust driven, however. They say it will be an electric turbo, which is strange because a turbo is supposed to be exhaust driver. And a supercharger is belt driven. I guess they are still calling an electically driven forced indution a "turbo"

Or are the G owners who posted negatively about the 8 on this forum just ignorant? There's no reason why you can't like more than 1 car, is there? I like the G also despite being an 8 owner...who would have thought we all couldn't get along?

Do yourselves a favor...drive one and if you don't like it...that's your opinion. It's not law. I drove the G and the Z. I liked them but I like my 8 better. There's more to life than just a straight line fellas.

Before i went with the G, I marveled at the rx-8 for two years. I read article after article after article about the car, and I knew almost everything there was to know .I was so excited and so ready for the release, and when it kept getting postponed, it kept ticking me off.

Flash forward and im sitting at the dealer, mind you i was 17 at the time (only 18 now), and the dealer basically tells me to [censored] off, not expecting me to really buy a car.

Sadly I went to another Mazda dealer and was treated the same way. This turned me away from the car and I guess in some opinions, I lucked out because I got the G35 Coupe.

I still love the RX-8, but I am very happy with my car now. I only wish I was treated with some respect at those dealers, I could be driving an rx-8 now =(

Funny how the first RX-8 is a model year 2004 but yet you were in the dealer 2 years ago. Was it Shakespeare who said, "a bad dealership does not a bad car make?"

 

I wasn't at the dealership two years ago my friend, I started following the car about 2 years ago. I was in the dealership July 2003.

Not trolling...just enjoying the information about G's as I, too, like the car. As a matter of fact, I encouraged brother-in-law to get one. That's his next to my 8. I just hate ignorance.
