I was wondering to how our beloved g 35 coupe compares with cars such as Mazda RX-8 and Honda S 2000 in terms of performance, reliability and prestige.
If I were ever to race with those cars, can I win? I don't have any mods installed yet.

In a race against the RX-8, you will walk him easily. With the s2000 , MT against MT, its a drivers race.

How about 350z vs. G35c. How big of a difference.

 

the 350z would edge because of its 7hp advantage, and some loss weight i believe. However, it is basically a pure drivers race and so little a difference either could win.

 

Acceleration: S2000 > G35 > RX-8
Handling: S2000 > RX-8 > G35

The G35 coupe handles very well but the S2000 & RX-8 are true, uncompromising sports cars while the G35 coupe is a luxury sports coupe. The S2000 & RX-8 are smaller, lighter cars w/ shorter wheelbases & stiffer suspensions. The G35 coupe is an excellent compromise between luxury & sport IMO, the everyday sports car.

I do think it's a drivers race but w/ equal drivers, IMO, the S2000 should win slightly. This is based on the S2000 generally having slightly quicker 1/4 mile times from what I've seen. To be fair, it is more difficult to achieve low 1/4 mile times w/ the S2000 than it is w/ the G35 coupe, so maybe w/ avg drivers the G35 coupe has a slight edge.

Uhhh... no.

The G definitely outhandles the RX-8 despite its heavier more luxurious weight. The S2000 probably has an edge in all catagories, but I'd have trouble calling it a true uncompromising sports car... If I had to call something a true uncompromising sportscar in this price range it would probably be a Lotus Elise.

 

The G35 ...is the better all around car...Ive seen the G kill the RX8 on a road course and a 1/4 mile and has way more torque than the S2000 and the RX8 .On a road course I think the S2000 will do a little better in the corners [not much] Ive driven the RX8 and its a dog compared to the G. Havent driven the S2000 yet...my .2 cents

From a dig, the S2000 will stay ahead slightly. From a roll, I give it to the G35.

no... the RX-8 is not much of a challenege whether or not there is a good driver behind the seat. i've been head to head with plenty of them in california, new york, florida, and now in texas...

they're good cars for high reving.. but not that powerful, not much torque, but a cool interior... it's more a showy car i think..

the s2000 now ... that is a car to beat and tell about.



ps. why does anyone bring up the RX-8 anyways, even the people who own them are a little bitter about their cars because of starting problems (something about flooding), the lack of power, really low torque,...

 

Will the Lotus Elise be a better rival than the Mazda RX 8 for the G 35 coupe? Any thoughts on that car by the way?

the new lotus is a monster. Amazing handling, 0-60 in 4.4 seconds... The G wont be able to keep up with that car no matter how great of a driver you are.

Well considered how small that Elias is... of course the 0-60 is so low, the car pratically weighs next to NOTHING.
