JWT Pop Charger
I was at the dealer today and there was another guy there who brought in his coupe b/c it was stalling every so often. Every few thousand miles or so, he said he would start the car and it would immediately stall. The techs were trying to say it was b/c of the JWT Pop Charger he installed. I am just trying to see if anyone else had the same problem before I get one? Has anyone heard of this? My only thought was that maybe he screwed up the mass air meter or something, but the problem is too sporadic (I would think).
If no one has heard of this problem, let me kow who sells it for the best price.
Thanks!

Re: JWT Pop Charger
As long as the setup is installed properly and your MAF wire doesn't have any buildup on it (example: from over oiling the filter after cleaning) you shouldn't have any issues what so ever.
Hope this helps!

Re: JWT Pop Charger
In summer heat [idle /low speed bumper to bumper traffic] a Cone type air filter [without a cold [outside air] air feed] will expose the MAF element and temperature sensor to higher than design limits. Nissan uses 140F [Death Valley peak] as the expected running limit.
Under hood air can exceed 160-175F.
For the part 10 years it has been a know fact that these cone type filters [without air feeds] have caused Summer Hiccups on some MAF equipt vehicles.
Easy to confirm since the air inlet temp sensor is readable via OBD2 scanner.
Very valid to blame cone filters if design temp. is exceeded.

Re: JWT Pop Charger
i heard some guy talkin about going to shift gears after his ztube and p/c install and his car would die on the freeway at like 70 mph when he went clutch in and the revs would just drop to 0..... i have p/c ztube and am not worried about it since i have stock stuff and have not had a problem yet.

Re: JWT Pop Charger
Here's my situation:
-2004 automatic coupe
-JWT PopCharger/Z tube and grounding wires installed at 900miles
-At 2,600 miles, I experienced my first stall while simply driving. I started the car again and it stalled again, rpm's just dropped to zero. I repeated this many times, could not get the car to start properly.
-Towed it to dealer, it all of a sudden started when they tried it after several attempts and pumped the gas continuosly while started the car. No clear explanation of cause.
-Today, with 5,200 miles on the car, same problem. Just left the garage and it stalled two blocks later (normal driving). Towed it to the dealer again and they found nothing after getting it to start up somehow by similar procedure by pumping the gas pedal.
-They said to put back the original parts and remove grounding wires and see if it happens again.
-Not sure if I will do that, just hoping for the best and will try pumping the gas like they did to get me up and going.
This is a messed up problem and a dangerous one.

Re: JWT Pop Charger
Q45tech is pretty much on the money. The stalling out can be mostly caused by the p/c and ztube install. because the MAF is now more exposed than usual, temperatures can be higher in certain environments and situations. Also a big factor is the case of oiling on and around the MAF. remember to keep things maintained and there shouldn't be a problem. If there is, there is a good chance you have to replace the MAF

Re: JWT Pop Charger
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.
In this case I don't feel the intake temperature has anything to do with the stalling. I live in the hottest metropolitan area in the US and we don't see any issues here with cars stalling due to the intake air temperature. I'd look at the cam sensors and other items, before blaming a cone filter.
FWIW, Nissan has a large technical center about 45 minutes south of downtown Phoenix where they perform environmental testing (along with other stuff of course). They have a really cool heat soak testing area.

"They have a really cool heat soak testing area."
That kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it? j/k .
To continue your point Justin, I would think that in AZ, the underhood temp conditions with a running motor would exceed the temps mentioned above and that heat would radiate/conduct to the MAF even with a fan blowing hot AZ air on it.

Re: JWT Pop Charger
your right EverythingG35. i am def wrong, don't know what i was thinking when i said temperature was an issue. but i stick with the oiling problem. it is a possibility that the oil from the filter is damaging the MAF since it is pretty close. but you do have a point, very rarely does a cone filter cause stalling. in this situation, it could be anything, but its easy to blame aftermarket parts. i don't have any problems and have been running perfectly.

Re: JWT Pop Charger
Some times when im cruising on the highway my slip light comes on. Started happening right when i left the shop after getting my z-tube and jwt installed. Also i have this rattling noise coming from the engine area when i start the car and when turning really slowly while releasing the clutch. Another wierd thing is it can only be heard from inside the car, when i open the hood i cant hear it. I dunno if its the z-tube, jwt rattling, or if something got caught in the intake cylinder while they were instaling it and bounces around??
