A Little Help Identifying a Few Pre-Owned Mods

This is in reference to another thread I had in the "Newbie" forum.

Considering that forum has much less traffic, I figured I'd post it here. I just bought this car a few days ago and I'm trying to figure out the make / model of a few modifications that were installed prior to my ownership.

I think my car may have a spacer already. Considering that I'm still very new to this engine, I didn't notice it at first. I looked at the engine from the side a bit earlier today and was surprised to see what looks like a plenum spacer.

Then I checked a co-worker's 2003 G35 and noticed that his didn't have it. The cover on mine was much more angled then his as well. Granted, that may have to do with the intake itself. Can anyone verify if this is a plenum spacer? It looks a lot like what I've seen searching these forums and using Google image search.

I noticed that the intake is a "Weapon R". As to which model it is, I couldn't say.

Here's just a straight shot of the engine. Yeah, it's a bit dirty. I'll be cleaning that this weekend.

The exhaust perplexes me as well, I can't tell who makes this one. There doesn't seem to be any brand name that I can see.

If I need to grab any other pics of it I'll be glad to.

Hks exhaust is what it looks like. I would have to see better pics to tell if it was a replica or not. Also you have a grounding kit from what it looks like. Also looks like a MD 5/16th spacer.

Thanks for the info! The spacer is just icing on the cake right now. 3 days in on the car and all of the engine mods I was going to look in too are already done.

I can deal with it being a replica if that is the case. I have one other picture I took of the exhaust earlier, didn't think it would help initially.

The MREV 2 is always a possibility in the future though.

You could also get Yest pipes or headers if they haven't been done yet

i just got my car and i seem to have the same mods. Hks exhaust and 5/16 plenum spacer. i did a thread about exhaust and someone posted a link to figure if the pipes are real hks or the ebay knock offs. hks cost around $1,500!!! i was surprised to find mine were hks. also everyone seems to get a ztube as the first mod. anyone have a pic of where this is located? weve probably got one of those 2 man. its nice to buy used and find all the goodies huh?

Possibly a motordyne 5/16 spacer, gordgees (sp?) grounding kit or some type of grounding kit and a HKS exhaust or the generic version which is the X02

Pics of the overall car are here.

It has a dark black tint, but no clear corners. I like the look of clear corners... but the fact that I can get pulled over for them may keep me from doing that for a while. Granted, the tint is just as likely to do so.

I think I'll need to get underneath it to check for the rounded caps and other identifying factors. I found this image in one of the threads that you mentioned. I guess I'll use that as an identifying factor.

That's definitely a real hks exhaust. I can tell by the welds around the cap on the rounded canister.

This should put your questions to rest in regards of your exhaust

Thanks, I actually do Knowledge Administration (I write and organize a Knowledge Base for a support team). So if anyone's going to be searching, it's most likely going to be me. I have to deal with people who don't search on a constant basis at work, so I'd rather not do the same to everyone here.

If I knew more about modding, I'd be happy to make a few DIY's. Considering I write instructions all day at work and provide reference materials, I'm pretty good at it by this point.

After watching a few videos on how the X02 and the HKS sound, I have to agree. Which is a pretty lucky damn turn of events.

I haven't validated it with any actual legal sources yet, but my co-worker who also has a G35 mentioned something about it being illegal.

At least he put his stickers in the engine bay and not on the car. I hate that.
