Well, the final verdict is in. Infiniti had to replace my gas tank.

As I have said in my previous posts, we are all experiencing similar but different issues related to our gas tanks/guages. I know some of you had your sending units replaced and that fixed the problem. The important thing is for Infiniti to reproduce the problem when they have your car. In my case, the problem has reproduced consistently for 5 months, so I wasn't worried. (Don't ask me why I put up with it that long)

In my case, I had a tough time putting in the first 2 gallons of gas without it overflowing and then after the 2 gallons finally went in, I could let it rip on full and then fill up the tank normally. I never had a problem with the accuracy of the gas guage and I hope it doesn't start with the new tank LOL!

I hope all of you get your gas tank/guage problems resolved. At least I have been able to drive a Sedan for a few days and it was a nice change, but I miss the coupe.

Yes, the tank is available and I confirmed with the Service Advisor that it was installed on my coupe yesterday. I can pick up the car anytime today. My only surprise is how long they had to keep the car. I brought it in first thing Saturday morning and I can finally pick it up later this morning. The tank had to be ordered and the dealership received it yesterday afternoon.

got a call from Infiniti, gas tank is in and i just need to drop it off...

we'll see if it fixes the problem!!!

btw, how did the subject of this thread change?? and why?? it doesnt show up as different in the forums...?

Had a little scare right after I read this post! Filling up gas and it just overflowed.....usually clicks off by itself before gas starts gushing out....first time this ever happened to me in like 10 years of filling gas in any of my cars. Hopefully it was just the pump I was using and not the beginning stages of this problem.

Ok...my last fill up on Saturday my 04 coupe was filling up for a few gallons and I think it stopped at like 5 gallons or so...I was only at a 1/4 tank when I started to fill up...Usually $30.00 should fill up the car....As I start to pump, it's fine for a few gallons then "click"...I'm like what...it's not full yet...I press down on the gas lever again and it only fills up 0.7 each time I press the handle...ANNOYING...I thought nothing of it...and when I started the car and drove off...I only got 7/8 filled up..I"m like what the F...The car has 6500miles on it...I'm at a 1/4 tank again and I need to fill up tomorrow.

I will keep everyone posted if this happens again...I'm thinking maybe it's just a bad pump...Hopefully everything's fine..

my sending units are still defunct!
this morning it was varying from empty with the light on, to 1/5 tank... and i put 10 bucks in yesterday!...
we'll see what happens when i get the new tank...

ok, infiniti needs my car for 2 days to replace the gas tank!!!

dropped it off this morning at 8am and they said it will be ready 2mrw afternoon...

does it really take that long to replace a gas tank?
