Tired of the run around from Infiniti...
Tired of the run around from Infiniti...
Ok, about a month ago my butt cushion separated from the frame of the drivers seat (have pics) exposing all the wires and gadgets under it. So I call Infiniti and talk to Jennifer who says I can go to a Nissan dealer and have the seat looked at. They can order the parts from Infiniti and do the service there. This was great! (A side note: the nearest Inf dealer to me is 70 miles away. Being told that Nissan locally can do it made me really happy)
So I take a day off of work (commission sales so I didn't make any $ that day) and have Nissan look at it. The guy there says "Yup seat cushion needs replacing. We will get a hold of Inf of Grand Rapids Michigan *191 miles away* and they can order the parts, send them to us, bill us, and we will do the service for you. I'll call you tomorrow" Awesome!... I thought.
Four days go by and I decide to call Nissan. Talk to another guy who says they wont do the work. I go through the whole thing and he transfers me to another guy who says he will have to call Inf to get authorization for the repair. Another day goes by and I call back. Talk with Steve at the Nissan dealer who says Inf refuses to send the work to him. Pissed, I call Inf Consumer Affairs (more like the soup ****'s) and explain what's going on. Wendy basically tells me to pack sand and says that only Inf will do the service on Inf, Nissan only on Nissan. Then a bunch of stuff on why they cant... one cant bill the other, Inf and Nissan aren't certified to work on each others stuff, all Inf dealers are privately owned, etc etc, etc...
So now I'm stuck driving a minimum 70 miles one way to get the car looked at again, then home, then back for service, then home again. All this aside from the fact I have to take another day or two of my life and income getting a car with 19K miles on it fixed. They wont even flat bed the car to save mileage. Hell, I could have bought a GTO and had it serviced at any GM dealer. Inf wont get my business next time if this is the way they "service" their customers. Just like everything else, once they have your $ you can go screw yourself.
sorry for the rant...

Re: Tired of the run around from Infiniti...
That sucks.......but check this out as another example..
I want to get my manual transmission fluid/lube changed ...car just hit 12K miles.
Infiniti dealer quotes me $150 - $175.00
Nissan dealer says no problem - $75.00
Same transmission....different mentality.

Re: Tired of the run around from Infiniti...
Don't understand, you knew the dealer was 70 miles away when you bought the car, right?
You decided to purchase a brand new design low profit entry level vehicle expected to have some teething problems for the first few years, right?
They are open on Saturday, right?
You chose the job you have, right?
Why would you think Nissan would do cross warranty work?

Re: Tired of the run around from Infiniti...
I was told when I bought the car there wouldn't be any problem servicing the car at a Nissan dealer. Hell, has the same seat as a 350Z. Not like I need a new trans or something! Just because the car is the first production year dosent give it an excuse to fall apart. Why do people bitch about the streaking windows, or clicking rear end, or hard shifting, etc etc. I bought an Intrepid new and put 130K miles on it and only have replaced the window regulator at 120K miles. Your telling me an Infiniti should be expected to break cause its a first production year. Come on please.

Re: Tired of the run around from Infiniti...
i feel for you dude. but i kinda have to agree with q45tech. you knew beforehand that you were 70 miles away from the nearest infiniti dealer. and as far as the serviceperson stating at first that they could do it via a nissan dealer....they were wrong and their hands are tied due to corporate policies on warranties and repairs. from what it sounds like, they are totally willing to do the job for you. you just have to go to the nearest infiniti dealer. i think for the dealer to get a flatbed for you is kinda ridiculous.
and i'm saying this in the most sympathetic tone possible so don't flame me cuz you think i'm just doggin' on you : ) seriously, just be happy that they are willing to fix it with no problems and all you have to do is go there. i don't think any dealer for any carmaker would pick up the car for you just because you're 70 miles away. : (

Actually Lexus will, sometimes!
Infiniti will if the car dies on the road. [Hint Hint].
Heck, I sent a flat bed 270 miles to pickup a Q45 after it failed after an engine replacement.....but he was a special customer and nice and the failure was our fault.[ unknown at the time though].
The orginal selling dealers have been known haul newish $68,000 LS430 Premium packages if you were those foolish enough to pay list ---- no discounts.
But those are deals you make with the dealer by paying up front.
Your expectations seem very high, compared to the Real World on an entry level premium vehicle. Not that you are wrong just that Infiniti has a long way to go to get back to some early successes.
Guess since I've seen things [Infiniti vehicles] fall apart [at 200,000-300,000 miles] for 14 years that I realize what a G35 is and how little $35,000 buys you these days.
Dealers are so variable in service quality from Superb to pretty good. Function of how long they have been around and the people.
EVERYTHING Depends on your relationship with Service and General Manager.
Good luck on your seat.

So, so, so, so true. I got to know the GM of the dealership the second time I looked at the car, and we ended up buying a G and an FX within a couple months, both with great options and discounts. If it weren't for that relationship, we probably wouldn't have the FX, and they wouldn't have bent over backwards to fulfill our every need.
