call me a pessimist, but I would not take 5 qts of Mobil 1 to a dealer and ask them to use that for an oil change, who's to say if they will actually use it. The guy could simply use their regular stuff and throw the bottles in his trunk. I'm not trying to bad mouth anyone, but I've had services done before (not at Infiniti) that when I got the car back I know that they didn't even look at the item that I've asked for.

 

how would you know they didnt use the oil that you brought?

thats why i always watch them very carefully.

 

If you got the time to watch them, why don't you do it yourself?

Did you watch them put on a new washer?
Did you watch them to make sure they don't strip the threads?
You pay someone to watch them screw yer car up?

If you care enough to use synthetic you should care enough to do it yourself.

And I agree with Q45, if you don't have the time or place to do it yourself and properly document it or you don't like getting all dirty and icky, take it to the dealer!!!!!!!!!!

Do NOT take it to Jiffy lube to save $10 dollars when you just spent $30 on the oil!

Kinda off topic, but I recently saw on Horsepower TV, they changed the engine oil, transmission fluid, and differential fluid from convential fluids to Royal Purple products on a LS1 camero. It gained 8 hsp on the dyno over the baseline, from 302 to 310. Another reason to go with the good stuff.
