just got back from jiffy lube and had them put mobil 1 synthetic in the G. this might be a stupid question, but how many miles before my next oil change? some advice would be nice!

 

if, and its a BIG if, you used a high quality filter like a pro 1, mobil 1, or KN then you can run 5k easy...I've heard people running 7500 with a good filter...also others who didnt use a higher quality filter have just changed their filter at 3k and ran it for another 2-3k miles...

choi...do you mind me asking how much Jiffy Lube charged you...? just picked mine up 20 min ago from Infiniti and it was $68...they said also that it would be going up because their cost of Mobile 1 is going up...he said he took off whatever he could from the price...mine are usually around $58 for Mobile 1...and I change it about every 4-5K miles.

Study the oil analysis reports on this and other forums you will see changes in specifications [and wear metals] around 5,500 miles due to small size of oil filter and only 5 quarts of capacity.
You might just change filter [3,750 miles] and top up oil amount and get to 7,500 miles.

Not sure if you are concerned with maintaining performance to 200,000 miles or longer.

You must document changes [foreign receipts* won't work] at least every 6 month or 7,500 miles [which ever occurs first!!!] to maintain engine warranty to 70,000 miles.

* Frequently people skip oil changes and try to back date create oil changes when confronted by Nissan.

Make sure each recept contains make model and VIN/ tag number etc plus brand of oil and filter. Mileage/date.

People have tried to supply scraps of paper as oil change receipts.

Since some engines seem to have ring seating problems I would take oil to dealer for changes at least till you are sure your engine is ok in that regard. By 30,000 miles you should know if it still uses oil!

well, i brought my own mobile 1 synthetic. they charged me $28.00. if you add up the oil i bought and the oil change. that should come out to about $53 bucks total. so i guess its a bit cheaper than going to the dealership.

 

i didnt bring my own filter, so i guess they put in whatever filter they had at jiffylube. anybody know what kind of filter they use??

 

some crappy 2 dollar filter...I take my own oil and filter to the nissan dealer and they charge 12.00 for the change...walmart charges 30 bucks for a mobil 1 change, but its walmart so if you go i'd take your own filter and watch them like they were going to steal your christmas ornaments from your house

Is there anything wrong with changing your oil every 1500 miles with Mobil 1 .. Using a new Infiniti OEM filter? (Besides the obvious responses of 'you're wasting money'?)

I used to have my old I35 oil changes done at jiffy lube. With the exception of the first two services, which I had done at my dealer, the others were done and documented at jiffy lube. I used to change the oil every 3,000 miles, and I had a discount card which gave me 20% off. The Total used to be around $27.

They used on my car Pennzoil oil and Pennzoil filters......hope this helps.....

If you are going to change it that often then you can run just regular oil...But hey its your car you can do what you want...
