PLZ READ: Does an Intake give better GAS MILLAGE?

Re: PLZ READ: Does an Intake give better GAS MILLAGE?
Sellers of aftermarket parts don't want buyers to understand how to measure [how easy] air flow because then they would be exposed........to their many half truths.
Of course to be fair, the ecu/MAF resolution having only a 3% accuracy might miss a 1-2% air flow increase. Maintaining the same injector open time so the mixture in the cylinder might lean that same amount from more air flow UNTIL the MAF ECU catches up.
Since leaner mixtures run hotter and the hotter reaction temperature speeds burning of fuel.....except the molecules are farther apart....so it mostly washes.......1-2% variations may have chaotic results from cylinder to cylinder due to minute surface differences.
Some times it helps some times it hurts. It will vary from engine to engine and with air temperature and specific fuel blending that day.
The question is IS every squirt from the fuel injector absolutely the same [homogeneous] to the 99% level through out all the gasoline in the tank?

Wow that's an answer...
My answer would be and I'll get whallopped but so what:
Yes for a few weeks your AF will rise and then after the ECU figures out with it's adaptive ECU that you added air it will add fuel as well and get you back to the same AF as before.
Kpierson will be able to expound more on this soon hopefully...

Re: PLZ READ: Does an Intake give better GAS MILLAGE?
Wrong.
The ecu always will provide proper (or best guess) A/F mixture. There is no waiting to learn.
Air in, fuel to match.
More air in, more fuel to match.
If the ecu can't match air to fuel ratio in seconds, we have a big problem.
At less than WFO, new intake is not letting "more air in".
Same as biggy size exhaust won't let more air out.
NA anyway.

which is why kpierson goes from 14 to 13 in quarter mile time after reset...umm hmmm

DED,
So then would you say that the TS ECU is a waist of money for people with intake, plenum, cats, full exhaust?
The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Re: PLZ READ: Does an Intake give better GAS MILLAGE?
It's not a waste of money, just something to consider when you put these kinds of performance mods - you'll just pay more for gas.
You can't put in a supercharger and expect to get better MPG - it aint gonna happen. People who put performance mods don't really think about saving on gas. If they did, they'd just leave the car stock and shift like a granny at 2000rpm...

Re: PLZ READ: Does an Intake give better GAS MILLAGE?
One more thing to consider about the Z-Tube and JWT Popcharger adding gas mileage to your car...
It has been suggested that the JWT P/C makes the air enter the intake tube in a more turbulent manner. If this is the case, as proposed by some, the MAF can become "confused" and tell the ECU to allow the car to run either more lean or more rich. This might contribute to the better gas mileage that some people have reported seeing. Just one more thought that I'll throw out for discussion.

neffster, you should know better than to repeat that nonsense.
And I don't get your point about the TS ecu, you don't expect better mileage with it do you? You need the TS because you made changes that require different mapping.
People see better mileage because they are driving different or they have no idea how to calculate it.
