Do you change your oil every 3750 miles?
Do you change your oil every 3750 miles?
It seems too often to me, especially with a partial synthetic oil. But it's what's called for in the manual. I know, it's a nice car, take care of it, etc. But I know the oil will last longer than 3750.
Been changing my Mobil 1 at 5K intervals. Next up I have 6 changes of 0W30 German Castrol same as you. Guess I need to change it around 4K then, right?
Out with the old, in with the new....how often?
Red Line Synthetic 10W/30 and K&N filter every 90 days or 3500 miles which ever comes first, my cost $60 but it's worth knowing I'm protecting the internals of my motor....all about respect!

Changing oil so soon is a waste of money and only adds to our dependancy for foreign oil. Change you oil at a 5K MINIMUM. I've had cars go to nearly 200K miles with 10,000 mile non-synthetic oil changes and they never gave me problems. Frequent oil changing is a myth.
just my .02
And I'm a big believer in changing oil when needed. My first car's motor seized up due to the previous owner's lack of care in that area.
I've done it with 3 different cars with 0 issues, all have gone over 150,000 miles. Heck, my dads 86 camaro siezed the engine after 80,000 miles because he NEVER changed the oil...LOL...it lasted 80K though. While I'm not exactly saying everyone should do 10K mile oil changes on the cheapest stuff you can get, anything under 5000 miles is a waste. This info isn't exactly new. Some car manufacturers even go to 15K miles with no oil change.
I just change mine at around that mileage because I don't drive my car that often, so the oil sits in it for a long time and only gets changed about 2 to 3 times per year which is generally in the 3500 mile range per interval for me. I'm an oil **** anyways and would rather err far on the side of caution.
If you drive your G35 on a more consistent basis with lots of higher gear driving, you can definitely go longer than that... but the only true indicator is to get a used oil analysis done.
I will tell you that my motor seems smoother at higher RPM's with the German Castrol though than it did with Mobil-1. I ran Mobil-1 for my first 3 oil changes in this car before switching over to GC. Don't expect to notice a huge difference, since it is only oil... but the GC is quite a bit thicker than the Mobil-1 despite the similar viscosity rating. When you pour the GC for the first time, I think you'll see what I'm talking about.
