I use mobil 1 or castrol full synthetic and I usually change it right at 3k, but the most I've ever gone past was 1k over so 4k.

4-4500 miles. I use Mobil 1. I check it regularly though to make sure it still has enough and that it's not burning to quickly. Has ANYONE hit over 75k yet? I'm wondering if there's going to be a need to change to "high mileage" oil.

i don't want to speak for him, but I brought this question up to Doug at Crawford Z in Nashville. I was doing Mobil 1 every 5K miles just cause it was easy to remember and I put a LOT of miles on my G.

He only uses dino and recommends every 3K. His point was something like "It doesn't matter what kind of oil you use, it is it still get dirty after 3K miles."

He went on to say the particles of oil in the synthetic are smaller and might add to the oil consumption issues.

Please don't quote me on this. I am just trying to relay the info he gave me.

My opinion is that the Dude knows hit $hit!

At 3-5k, it almost doesn't matter what you use as long as you use a good filter. IF you are FI'd, step up to the best you can afford. I'd consider Amsoil for it's film strength and superior additive packages.

Why? You change the filter and top off the oil. But yes, use good filter anyway.
