Those with Huper Optik tints..

Which HO tints did you get and how much did you pay for the tint & install? I am in Queens, NY but I work in Long Island. I got quoted for $500 installed for HO's... didn't tell me which kind though. Thanks guys in advance.

HO Stark 40%, was done by James Window in Middletown, NY (Orange county). Excellent install, and the best part: $250
PM me if you need more information.

I heard the ceramic interferes with reception (i.e. radio, cell, nav, etc.). That came from the HO installer in Allentown, PA.

If you heard that from an installer, my only suggestion to you is NOT to go to that installer...
Actually, ceramic tint is THE best tint for UV protection and SAT reception. If you have a SAT antenna located on the rear shelf, you'd want to go with HO.
Either that installer doesn't know what he's talking about or you misunderstood him.

Re: Those with Huper Optik tints..

Good advice Speed... I don't know where people keep hearing that Hupers interfere with reception. I have 40% as well and I don't have any interfernce issues.

To clear things up:

NO, it doesn't affect your cell phone!
NO, it doesn't affect radio reception!
NO, it does not affect your Nav! (unless your antenna is inside like speed said)

You can believe a G owner, with Ceramic Hupers, that has Nav/radio/cell/etc.... or you can believe the crap that comes out of the installer's mouth... and $500??! DEFINITELY find another installer that'll do it cheaper... and one that won't feed you crap.

Re: Those with Huper Optik tints..

Got Huper Optik 40% from Accutint in Bellevue, Washington for $500 (includes Llumar on the front). I CANNOT recommend them. First, expensive (I was ok with this since they were the only HO dealer in Washington). Second, they had installed the front tint with a hair under the tint. I complained and they charged me an additional $30 to reinstall the front. They said that since front tint wasn't legal, they wouldn't replace it for free. On the rear, they wouldn't even try to go over the dot matrix and used 3 sections for the rear and sometimes I can see the seams (when light reflects off of them).

Re: Those with Huper Optik tints..

Between the shady "authorized dealer" in my area and the Andretti Auto Glass Tint (in Allentown), I'm thinking that I'm going to make that road trip up to Middletown, NY (approx 2hr, 45 min). At $250 for HO tints...plus gas (approx $35 and some minor tolls), I think that I'll still get the tints done by James Window at < $300, right.

;-)

Plus, at least I know that James Window is "certified" to install on Gs since I've seen some very favorable posts from G35driver members. Hmm...I gotta call Andretti's to confirm on price though...plus I wanna go w/ 30%.

Re: Those with Huper Optik tints..

$250 from the groupbuy in Westport, CT. (dats right, Martha's home town apparently) Service was very good, so is the install. There were many small water bubbles when I first got the car back. (not air bubble) Edges were filled in nicely, and I got the 5 yr warranty filled out. So hopefully in a couple of weeks the water bubbles will dissapear. Now if the fricking grease streak would dissapear as well.

Re: Those with Huper Optik tints..

Yup, I was surprised they wouldn't go over the dot matrix considering Huper Optik recommended them. They did offer to put vinyl over the dots, but at an extra cost.

Anybody know if the same holds true for a radar detector?

No problems with rear detection here.
