**I had that problem! the previous owner didnt take the car to the dealer for oil changes. So the dealer i went too for OC test said i qualified but they need service records(oil changes) or infiniti will deny it.

went to riverside infiniti and the service manager ask the previous owner the history he said it was change every 3000miles religiously. Also the service manager called corporate and they said drop the oil pan and take out the valver covers and check for sludge. luckily mine desnt have sludge so i got the OK. after 5 days my new engine came
do you need to change your oil @ a infiniti dealer or can you do it urself? for example could an oil change record be like a little half sheet of paper with the dates written in pen like for ex.

06/12/2009 oil + filter 21,321 miles mobil 1
08/03/2009 oil + filter 23,239 miles mobil 1 ?

so if ur not under warranty they wont cover it?

do you need to change your oil @ a infiniti dealer or can you do it urself?

reason is im looking to buy an 2006 and i know that they are about to become void of warranty and i dont want to buy a 20k car to have the engine die on me

if warranty isnt going to replace it im going to be like 7k out on a 20k car i just bought
thanks help appreciated.

1. No they will not cover it if your warranty is up.

2. You need receipts of oil changes. Weather it be from a dealer, an oil change place, or receipts of filters. But that is only if they ask for them.

3. When you go to buy this 06. Which still has about 2 years left on the warranty. Make sure you check the oil levels for the first month. If you see any depreciation, take it back to wherever you bought it from, and tell them about it. Or if its still under warranty, which an 06 should be. Go to a dealer and get them to check it out. That way, its on record of being a concern. Either way, your going to find out if your engine is OC faulty before the warranty is up. So just treat it nice, and check the oil.

Good luck, and happy driving.

It's not advised to use synthetic oil during brake in. The Red Line Oil I use says, "Not to use until 3K miles on the engine." That's probably good advice.

thanks for all the help guys. i guess im getting a 06' and just checking the oil constantly and since i'll be doing the oil changes myself, just load up on the receipts and write down whenever i change my oil
if anythings wrong ill run to the dealer right away and tell them to check it right away

thanks for the info josh
