Transmission replaced by dealer @ 53,000 miles --> what could have caused this??

Dear all G35 owners,

So my car has about 53,000 miles, still warranted, and it began making this rasping/light rattling noise in between gears during acceleration.. noise comes from engine block... after about 3 weeks of this, i took it to nationwide infiniti in Towson, MD and after 2 hrs of inspection, they said i needed a new transmission... i said sure... can someone explain what could've caused this? Is this because of me? I mean, i took the time to break in my car, ive always used mobile 1 full synthetic every 4000-5000 miles, and the only long trip ive made was from CA to MD once... I did make many 3 hr trips almost once every 2 weeks, and i rarely drive my car hard too.... what couldve caused this and what else does the dealer NEED to replace in lieu of the bad transmission? i was thinking clutch and flywheel... all suggestions welcome..

who cares as long as they are giving you a new one under warranty?

at 53k I would definetly tell them to replace the clutch and flywheel while they have it apart. They will charge you for the parts but at least it will be minimal or no labor since they have the trans out anyway.

Bad Transmission Causes Clutch Damage

Synchros too for me on my 05 6mt at $30k. Dealer did under warranty but 2 months later clutch slipping. I successfully argued clutch damage was due to synchro issue & was also warrantied. Good luck!
