Changing tranny fluid
I'm changing my tranny fluid on my 6 M/T this weekend. I called nissan to get the fluid and they said that I could just use any 80/90 tranny oil on my G.....?
I saw the post on the DIY section and I'm trying to get all the lubricants that they used... anyhow, I would like to know if my G will run as good if I didnt get the dealer's tranny oil.
What do you think?

Re: Changing tranny fluid
replaced my manual tranny fluid with Redline MT90. Its a 75W/90 oil.
I know..the 2003 Coupe manaul says 80W/90. BUT the 2004 Coupe manual says 75W/90.
so i figured what the hell....the 2003 engine and 2004 engine can't be that much different.
since I've replaced it, 1000 miles or so ago, I like it. Nothing negative about it.

Re: Changing tranny fluid
at 20k, it won't hurt to change the oil, but you MUST get GL-4 oil. I know redline makes a GL-4 and GL-5 mixture, but I still don't trust it, some people on my350z.com had problems with there tranny from using GL-5 oil. I helped change my friends oil using Mobil 1 GL-5 oil and his grinded like crazy. I'm using the same mobil 1 oil with no problems, but I'm going to switch back to stock nissan oil soon. There's a TSB out saying that you should use nissan oil only.
