Suspension Issues or What...?!?!
Hey everyone!!!
Here is my situation... I have an 04 G35 coupe rolling on stock suspension, stock wheels and tire size, and no modification to any suspension and/or wheel components. However, despite the fact that I very well know this is a "sports car" per say, I feel that the quality of my ride is extremely lousy. It is very jittery and harsh in comparison to other car's I have driven and driven in (including 4x4's and other sports cars).
To those of you in the SoCal area, I will use as a geographic example the 10fwy WB between the 605 overpass and Santa Anita Ave exit on the two right lanes. When I drive through there, my car's steering wheel literally jitters out of my hands. Incredibly hard to hold still. My whole arm, body, and car is shaking with exaggeration to where it feels as if its going to break apart. Another example is 10fwy WB connection to 57fwy SB, on the connection ramp there are some small dips, humps, and other uneven surface areas. I find myself having to drive through that connection ramp at no more than 55mph due to the severe negative roadhold and crab-like side sliding of the car.
With no exaggeration, but the car's feel reminds me of my old highschool ride which was a lowered 64 VW bug. Literraly no "cushy" feel. Just feels too harsh.
Though I know I am not too expect the road feel of a Caddy Coupe De Ville, nor do I want it, but I don't really think this is the targetted feel intended by Nissan/Infinity for a $30k plus car.
I'm curious if anyone else with stock ride might be feeling the same ride? Or does anyone know what areas of my suspension (shocks, struts, swaybar, etc.) could be going bad and could be the cause of my poor ride quality?
Thanks in advance!!!
PS: Forgot to mention that I have even dropped the psi in my tires from 35 to 32 and still not much difference. Also went from Bridgestone tires to Falken 452's and did notice a bit cushier feel, but just minimal.

dont know man. do you have 17, 18, or 19 in rims?
if you have the sport package (with the sport struts) the ride is a tad harsher than a nonsport g coupe.
thats what I have, but I dont mind it, I actually like it. lets me "feel" the road
I'd say what you are describing is normal, although not exactly desirable to some people. I could be wrong though, lets wait and see what others say.

I have an '04 coupe and experienced the same symptoms. It's probably time to consider a suspension change, your shocks are probably done. If you're the original owner, and you have 70k or more on the odometer then it's likely time like j 4 lD said. I recently upgraded to BC racing coilovers and when they are set to soft you get most of that cushy OEM feel back.
