Angry Oil in 2004 g35 coupe HELP !! ANYONE!

huge problem here... i bought a 2004 g35 coupe last year.. now my engine is burning oil like a B*tch. I mean like between one oil change i've used a whole bottle of oil to top up . thats 5 quarts of oil added between a 3,500 km oil change. can SOMEONE please help me and tell me what I should do. I'm way past the warranty on my car.. so i think. Can someone please tell me if theyve gone thru this and have had to do something on their own to fix the problem.. I live in Toronto, Onatrio in Canada. Has anyone attack Infiniti past the warranty mark for this issue. please please please help. THANK YOU

If you do a search on Oil consumption you will see, almost all the Rev up engines have this problem. I add a quart between oil changes as well. It's just something you're gonna have to monitor unless you want to replace your engine. I've learned to live with it....
Sorry...

When I bought mine 2 months ago, i realized i will be replacing the motor eventually. I have 120k on mine. It still runs great but you can hear it running lean sometimes right after start up and it also is not as strong right away... Gonna start running a higer octane fuel to help with the lean condition that the oil presents

I've read many threads about people pushing Infinity. If you are out of Warranty you are screwed. 4 quarts is a lot per 3000km. You prolly would be better off replacing the long block. I think it runs from $3500-$5000 depending upon the route you go. You can find a low mileage long block from a salvage yard and save a little money or you can have a block built and then you won't have this problem again, but it will cost more.

5 quarts of oil between changes is insane! Are you sure you're not leaking oil? If you have to do an emissions test where you live, did you have any problems passing it?

I think you're screwed as far as warrantee is concerned. Since you got the car used you'll probably have a very hard proving that the previous owner did all the maintenance. It might be worth sending your oil away for analysis to blackstone to see if you have signs of engine wear.

So, the longblock is the reason for oil consumption? This thread is claiming that it's the rings....would be nice to know which one is causing the OC definitely.

The rings are the issue. If you are going to fix the issue, you don't just go into a motor and only replace the rings, if you tare down a motor to the rings, you do a full rebuild. A new or newer long block would fix the issue because you are replacing the entire motor with one that doesn't have the same issue.

aight, so what you're saying is...keeping the original long block will eat up the new rings?

your situations wasn't as bad as mine:
https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...non-revup.html
I went through 5 qts of oil, every 1000 miles.

I did have warranty but to get it approved took nearly a month.
Turns out I had scoring on my piston rings, and I don't even push my car hard.
