Brembo Brake Questions

A friend of mine who worked for Infiniti told me that when you replace your brembo brake pads you need to replace the rotors as well is tat true?

That's not true if the rotors aren't at the wear limit. I replaced my front pads w/o replacing my rotors, and they went another 10k miles. I'm still on my original rear rotors at 29k miles, but second set of pads.
