Lightbulb Question about lowering cars and gas mileage

Hi guys I'm thinking about lowering my car and getting spacers and a new set of 19 rays with tires. I was wondering if that would affect my gas mileage. My car is unmodded and full stock. Thanks

Not sure about mpg, but it felt like I lost a bit of acceleration when I slammed my sedan. Now that I've raised it back up a good amount, it feels like I have much better power response again.

Gas Mileage....no! But....

Lowering your G will have no effect on gas mileage, it will however have an immediate effect on your wallet....$1200+ done correctly. Springs, suspension package and alignment....

Lowering may improve aerodynamics slightly and thus improving MPGs slightly too, but if you are putting on bigger and wider tires, that will hurt the MPG. It's all negligible. Biggest impact will be on your wallet like Gary C said.

so with 19 inch rims and a lowered car, what are the negatives about that?

diminished ride quality (depending on the spring rate you choose)

Actually, I'd disagree with that. The larger wheels should give you a better ride quality because the larger diameter wheels and tire combo will be able to roll over bumps easier. But if you put lower profile tires on, then you'd get a louder, harsher ride because of the lack of sidewall to help absorb everything. If you stick with 40+ sidewall tires, then you should be fine. The more sidewall, the better the ride quality.... Also, a lower sidewall will give you better response due to less sidewall flex, but a larger, heavier wheel will be worse on acceleration. (just different points to think about)

Dofu....you funny sedan guy! Wider tires than OEMs will make your G handle better. I always disliked using those 225s in the front, but that's Nissan's thing not mine. I like the stability of having slightly larger quality tires on my rides....245F and 275R in 35 series. (my thing)
