I have an '05 6MT (35K miles) and was wondering if changing my transmission fluid would help with smoother shifting? It's becoming increasingly more difficult to shift gears (especially downshifting to 2nd gear which now I really have to struggle with

Replacing the OEM trans fluid with synthetic like Red Line or Amsol might help but the real problem may be with your trans synchros. If you have a warranty it would be smart to take it to the dealership and have it fixed right....

I have an '05 with 35,000 miles on it, so I'm assuming my warranty would cover the new transmission install?? After reading others posts regarding transmission problems, I'm heavily leaning towards bad synchros, etc. It's definitely getting worse, especially now that I have to struggle every time to downshift into 2nd and obviously still getting grinds when upshifting into 2nd and 3rd. I honestly can't remember the last time I had one solid day of smooth shifting with no grinding, etc.
1) How much down time should I expect?
2) Any NEW problems that I might run into after getting the new trans installed?
3) What if the dealership doesn't come to the same conclusion regarding a new transmission (due to warranty work, etc.)...then what? I already brought this up over a year ago at another dealership and they said "they couldn't find anything wrong" even after I insisted checking out the synchros etc.

I have a 05 6speed too. I noticed it is difficult downshifting into 2nd too at times. But when going from 1-2 it's easy.

Doc, have you considered not downshifting into second but using third instead? I still think it's a good idea to have Infiniti check it out again. The only issue you might have if this dealership are azzholes, they might tell you you need a new clutch. Just say, "No thanks!" You will normally get a loaner vehicle, that's a plus....

Just change put the car on a lift, check to see what color the fluid is and if you have enough in there. If it's dark and a burnt color, then you need to change it. Shouldn't take too long, then see if it shifts smoother. There is a trans fluid DIY around here somewhere. Although I have heard of transmission treatments that temporarily help make it shift like butter, it's just covering up the real problem if there is one.

Oh! Sorry didn't see that you said you still had the warranty. Then yes of course just take it to the dealer lol.
