Got the okay to get my 2006 G35 6MT engine replaced!

Within 2 months of my warranty remaining, I figured I would get the engine checked out.

Yesterday Riverside Infiniti (in california) authorized my car for a long block replacement. Although I am happy that my almost 4 year old car is getting a new engine, it also displeases me that any problems that may exist with the new engine may not be covered once the warranty goes out.

I'm under the assumption that the new engine will be under warranty for the remainder of the original car warranty (4yr/60k); or will the engine have a seperate warranty on it's own?

Finally, this also puts another dilemma (although not a real dilemma ) I was planning to boost the car but now with the new engine, i really don't want to boost a brand new motor!

So who wants to recommend me a shop in southern california (LA/Riverside) to purchase and modify. I will start pricing things out for budgeting. I'm not new to the mod scene.

Thank you all:

the results of my oil consumption were:

1st run: distance 1000 miles = 7 ml consumed
2nd run: distance 1200 miles = 16ml consumed
3rd run: car is sucking more oil than it should.

I do a lot of hill driving having to drive through beverly hills daily. So i usually left the car in 2nd/3rd gear going down the hills.

T

45000 miles, but based on the 4yr/60k warranty, my 4th year comes in January 2010. The car was purchased January 2006

It'll be like having a brand new car.

Mine still burned a decent amount of oil after the new engine for about the 1st 8k then is started to taper off. I just hit 12k on it and at last oil change it was only down 3 or 4 mm after 3k

Encore: what sort of warranty did they give you for the new motor or did they continue off from the current vehicle warranty?

your warranty is what it always was. Getting an new engine does not extend it.

Isn't the stock powertrain warranty 6-years/70K miles?

Yea im curious. B/c i have an 06 coupe 6mt. I just hit 20k. No problems yet. Knock on wood. The problem is most OC's that I have heard of happens after 40k miles. So is the warranty for engine replacement 4yrs/60k or 6yrs/70k.

The powertrain warranty is 6 year/70K... I can't see any logical reason why Infiniti could justify not replacing your motor under warranty if it falls into the scope of that first 6 years and 70K miles.
